good clutch for 330bhp
Just got my car mapped to 330 great fun for 20 mins but unfortunately the clutch has started slipping. Ive gpt an sti engine with 5 speed box. Ive been told the standard wrx clutch should be good for 400bhp. Looking through ebay and im seeing a normal exceedy wrx 225mm clutch for £170 or an organic exceedy one for £220. What would people recommend? Is there any others out there in this price range that are better? Cheers

std clutch for that car is 230mm and will struggle beyond 350 generally, less if used aggressively............225mm is only for the v.early classics and is not the correct fitment at all and has a lower torque ability
most likely the "organic" clutches you are finding on Egay are cleverly worded std fitments what you are actually looking for is a "pink box" Exedy which is an uprated unit
probably best priced you will find here https://www.scoobynet.com/trader-ann...utch-kits.html and we also stock very competitively priced "pink box" as well as AP, Helix, ACT, etc..........

I have 305 bhp / 310 ftlbs on a 97 UK car with hybrid turbo.
Clutch was slipping when I got it 69K miles. I put a Borg & Beck standard size one in and now have 173K miles on clock and I've tracked it.
I know Excedy well rated but there's my experience for you.

Over and beyond that you need to look at uprated options:
Exedy Pink: http://aztecperformance.com/clutches...ti-judder.html
Competition Clutch: http://aztecperformance.com/clutches...4-5-speed.html
"Organic" does not mean uprated. Avoid eBay at all costs, there are more fakes being sold on there than genuine items unfortunately.
Feel free to message or call me if you need further advise

Ok. Thanks for the advise guys. It looks like I've got 2 options to choose from.
1. Blue box clutch for around £180. Cross my fingers that it won't burn out as I don't track the car.
2. Pink box clutch and lightened flywheel for around 480. Will last longer and take more abuse and have better throttle response.
Although money is tight at the moment and the scoob has already had a couple of grand spent on her over the last couple of months i think I will have to go pink. Hopefully there are some January sales. Ha
Cheers guys.
