Default Urgent advise

Help please, my totally standard hawk wrx has developed an issue. On my way home from nights last night it started to hesitate under load then the yellow engine light started to flash. I pulled in and at idle it was lumpy. Then the light went off and it run fine again. It wasn't far So I drove home. Half a mile from the house it did it again. Then was fine again. When I got up I checked all obvious things, fluid levels, connections I can see and get too. Any ideas? Maf maybe?

How would I do that? Would it need to be plugged in to a diagnostic machine or can it be done without?

Ideally yeah - or if you have an android phone you can buy an ODB reader and use the Torque app to scan for faults. Hopefully someone near you can chime in and offer to do this

ODB readers are as cheap as chips on ebay, very useful investment.

Comes with a book so you can look up the fault and go from there.

Get a bluetooth OBD2 dongle thingy, and the Torque pro app, I' ve had great success using this and cost about a tenner.
