Default Do I need Wagon specific ARBs?

Before I buy the wrong parts, do I need Wagon specific ARBs for my Blob Wagon? Or can I use pre wide track saloon parts?

How does it change things if I get classic alloy arms up front?

From what I understand no you don't, and as for the classic alloy arm they are supposed to be a straight fit so in theory change nothing.

But I could be wrong so subscribed.

I have a 2003 STi non-wide track rear 20mm arb on my wagon, straight swap, front I'm not sure about, that might need to be a classic because of narrower track.

Rich are you drop links on straight? Or are they set at an angle with that ARB? I know Whiteline do Wagon specific bars, but I'd have been happier picking up used items.

Hi Jay

We are run Eibach front and rear ARB's on our wagon and they're been OK,just be careful when you will be fitting rear lateral arms,if they're for new age, yours rear droplinks will be in wrong position something like this /\

If you want them have in good position then you will need to use classic rear lateral arms

Hope this help

Thanks,Jura

Were they wagon specific Jura, and what about the front roll bar and drop links when you run classic alloy wish bones?

Hi Jay, I have a 2002 bug and changed the anti roll bars at the front and the rear.

The rear wagon and saloon bars are the same, but the front are different. You also can't use bug bars on a blob, or blob bars on a bug.

I also got classic alloy arms put on at the same time. The classic arms are quite a bit lighter, and will help with unsprung weight, acceleration and breaking. If you swap to classic arms, you will also need new drop links (the type that look like 2 ball joints facing opposite directions and a bar in the middle connecting them).

I also changed the ball joints at the same time, since they are fairly cheap and are easily changed at the same time as the arms.

Worth doing if you are refreshing your suspension, how much each do individually I couldn't tell you. but if you had to choose one, it would be best to start with the bars.

Cheers all, very helpful.

Reshard, where did you find washers for the alloy arms?

So the rear bars are identical to all other WRX and non wide track STI, correct?

So the front, I know you have to use those other drop links on the alloy arms but is that all? What I mean is, do you still need to use a Wagon ARB up front even with alloy arms?

Hello mate,

You don't need any washers for the classic alloy arms, but you will need a cone adaptor for each side. When I bought my alloy arms, I was expecting it to come with the cone adaptors (allows the ball joints to sit securely into the arm) for both sides, but it only came with one cone LOL I bought one from import car parts for £15.

When you buy the arms, double check it's got the cones.

You can use the alloy arms with your std arb or aftermarket, it will fit with both.

Yep. But only from blob to blob, or bug to bug cars.

They are now about £25 EACH! Complete rip off for two cone shaped bits of steel.
