Default Questions about lag

Hello all

i had a map not long ago but before that i had a TMIC and the car pulled good around 2500-3000rpm.

I put a FMIC on and now at 4000rpm my car throws me in my seat it moves how it should but before that its so laggy. i was never bothered before because the cars much faster/smother sins the map but the more i drive it the more i notice it.

few questions

Will changing to a FMIC cause that much lag?

Can i do anything to decrees lag ?

if i go back to a TMIC will i need another map?

all advice appreciated

ESL and JGM mapped it he told me he could have pushed it more (330-40bhpish) if I want but he advised not to because my engine is a bit old witch was good advice because on the last run water come out the overflow witch caused a airlock lol

Do you think the turbo is to blame as well as the FMIC ?

Good advice as usual from JGM You could improve spool with a ported up pipe from Alyn @ AS Performance but the increased pipe work from a fmic does slow spool in comparison to a tmic. However a 1k rpm is a big difference I would also check for any ic pipework and exhaust leaks pre turbo

i will have a look on AS Performance site now any excuse to buy a new part .
i have to get under the car on Friday so will check for leaks. i no the exhaust manifold has a nut missing and the centre section has a small hole will have to sort them and see the difference . if i was to change back to a TMIC will i need another map? i assume the WRX standard TMIC is no good for 305.4bhp ?

Thanks for the advice much appreciated

You're best calling Alyn as he does not list eveything on his site and will be able to talk you through any other options that maybe available. Yep the slanty intercooler would be crap at cooling at your power level and it would need the map checking as the charge temps would be higher, so ignition timing may need retarding
