under boost i get a nasty splutter and the car seems to hesitate.
ive checked all coil packs all is ok including new sparkplugs

on my boost gauge it seems to be boosting to 1.1-1.2 which i heard its ment to be 0.9?

any help would be great. thanks

The boost gauge reading is to high for standard so you may be getting fuel cut.
Spark plugs properly gapped?

gap them with a feeler gauge to 0.65mm the book says 0.8mm but it's a old car and the spark won't be quite as good as it should

1st thing to do is check for and fault codes via the ecu's self diagnostics

Take it you have done a ecu reset aswell?
Checked all pipes for splits, including intercooler Y pipe.
Checked restrictor pill.
Do you have a induction kit, dump valve, any other mods?

Baileys dump valves are notorious for being poor,my ra ran rubbish when I fitted one. Plenty of people run them so this might not be the problem(have you got the oem one to try?)Is the boost solenoid clicking when in ecu reset mode? Have you cleaned it as this can cause boost problems

-25 in mg...

= c. -0.8bar - which is what my gauge reads at idle. So all good.

- Re. your high boost issue... You haven't got an aftermarket mechanical bleed valve fitted? Take a pic in and around the turbo, so we can see if there's anything not OEM fitted......

mechanical bleed valve fitted? not sure what one of those are.

everything is standard but td05 turbo, z4 ecu and bailey dump valve, all pipes are fully original.

its a very harsh splutter and backfires at the same time

thanks

is this after you put the Z4 on ?

I think the Z4 is for the STI I put one on my car just to see what will happen and the engine dint react so good to it. that alone will cause problems. you could even blow you engine like that because your messing around with the mixtures. I may be wrong if so than someone will correct me and sorry for scaring you

Thanks for the reply.

It was like it before ecu change mate but thought it would of helped.
It pulls strong till 5k rpm or I put my foot to floor then it just splutters/backfires sometimes hitting fuel cut.

Change fuel filter still the same

thanks for the reply,

i have 380cc injectors and not sure what fuel pump i have.
no never had it mapped for the td05 but have read many people who have done the b3 to z4 ecu upgrade with no problems at all. the problem was there before ecu upgrade.

thanks

cant see it been fuel pump if youve already confirmed its overboosting..
if its over boosting check the boost solenoid is plumbed up correct (do a search) and check that the brass restrictor is still fitted in the bottom hose right by the solenoid. people fit aftermarket hoses and forget to swap it over.
check the coil pack tips are not split (remove the rubber boots).

edit. 1.5 is way too much boost for the standard map sensor and will be over the fuel cut of the z4.

Thank you for your message.

Coil packs are all fine checked them around 3 times.
Restrictor pill is in and the pipe is goin to my air box.
Really is confusing me now it only splutters/backfires when I put my foot right down and it hits around 4000-5000 revs.
