Default 2.5L engine oil pick-up pipe info

within the next month/6 weeks i will (hopefully) be the proud owner forged blobeye sti with a 2.5 lump built by paul @ zen performance

ive heard that oil pick up pipes can fracture on the 2.5 lump so im wanting to know is there a reason this happens, can it be prevented etc

Hi there

KillerB Oil pickup is probably best option and why they fracture, please have look on those threads

https://www.scoobynet.com/general-te...hawk-eyes.html

http://www.killerbmotorsport.com/ind...ickupStory.htm

And what is involved to fit new or upgraded Oil pickup to working engine, you will need to remove oil sump and then you can replace oil pickup

Please have look on this

http://www.killerbmotorsport.com/ind...structions.htm

Thanks,Jura

i meant nevermind that its an open deck block matey, shame really but hey-ho

yeah i know you know which car

hopefully going over to see it very soon and leave a deposit.

i will have to speak with paul @ zen either way as its running equal headers and i dont like the sound so will be changing to un-equal and possibly a bigger set of injectors and a map tweak.

would like to know what is the safest power level for that block

You would be better of just phoning Paul at Zen for advice, I know the car and its a decent motor but it obviously depends on your future expectations for it.

As above give the call Paul@Zen,he will let you know for sure if or what is or what will be fitted

Block should be SCBD,if its OEM,if I would use 2.5L lump them I would go with CDB insert from Alyn@ASP

Oil pickup I wanted to upgrade on 2.35L to KillerB Oil Pickup, which have good reviews there

Thanks,Jura

all i know is that on the reciept it states new ej257 block from subaru-doesnt say if open or semi

chubby tom-tom knows the car so i will take it that its an open deck

the car is running a standard location ball-bearing gt3071r turbo so its got a decent blower on there, will speak with paul and see what he says is a safe limit

Standard block from Subaru EJ257 is SCBD,not open deck, open deck is only on the WRX 2.0L

This is EJ257

On SCBD I would don't go above 1.8bar,maybe bit less, most of mappers don't want to go above 1.65bar on 2.5L

Are you will be running ARP headstuds ?

Thanks,Jura

Hi there

Please read this thread

https://www.scoobynet.com/engine-man...abilities.html

EJ257 is semi closed and I think EJ255 is open deck block

This is EJ205 which is Open Deck Block

This is EJ207 which is classed as Semi Closed Deck

Spec is good and should be OK for 450-480bhp,above that you will need CDB insert for sure

Thanks,Jura

Although I know the car I don't know what block its built on,all I can say is its a very tidy car from a decent good reputation builder so you won't go far wrong.
