Default Japspeed exhaust knocking

Hello,

I recently had a local garage fit a full turbo back japspeed exhaust on my 2006 wrx wagon. However on the way home I could hear a knocking coming from the exhaust under the gear stick sort of area.

So that obv p*&ssed me off having just spent the money getting it pro fitted, I then decided to get it in the air to see where the knocking was coming from, and a section of the exhaust is far too close to the car; Pic below:

I know it looks like it should just push over but i think the downpipe stops this from happening.

So has the exhaust just been fitted incorrectly do we think?

Or will it never fit and theres something wring with it?

Any advice would be great

Jonny

Having looked at this diagram, im starting to think that my exhaust has been fitted incorrectly..

The pipe in question is pipe 1 in the diagram, which does not bend in the same way as the one fitted to my car. >.<

Pretty standard tbh. My last japspeed had to be modified to clear the steering column while my current toyo sport had to be packed out slightly to stop it knocking although it is very close to the bumper on the exit.

I have this issue, i intend to move the exhaust hangers at the rear can over to the drivers side by about 2".. I am hoping this will give enough clearance..... The vibration is awful through the car on decelleration.

Yep, cobra are no better than japspeed, the only difference is cobra charge more money.

A good pal of mine paid top dollar for a cobra system. The pile of junk was so far out it was laughable. He ended up driving all the way to cobra themselves and made them fit it.

The only benefit is that Cobra are actually made in Sheffield and their customer support is very good. They were very helpful when I had issues.

Oh I agree, the quality between cobra and japspeed are world's apart. It's just a shame they share similarities in the way they fit.

Yeah the rear hangar on mine is bizarre, I'll take a pic later.

Makes me wish I'd of bought a proper exhaust in the first place

Failing this I'll have to go to a custom exhaust fabricator and get them to modify it >. <

I took a chance on a japspeed downpipe and just fitted it on my v8 sti and it fit like a glove with no clearance issues at all and mated up to the rest of my system perfectly. Looks like a decent bit of kit too but time will tell how long it holds up.

If its the centre section thats knocking try bending the hanger bracket on the exhaust away from the car as it may of got bent in transit etc. I had great customer service from japspped too so if it still dosnt fit after that give them a call...

Exactly! The quality of their products is a disgrace. It's just a load of cheap nasty rubbish. You've only got to look at their sales pitch in the traders section, how they bump their products daily, telling you to get your orders in by the weekend etc haha.

Sell it and buy a quality system
