Cheap td05s...
I've got a 94-ish wrx engine (U8 ecu) that I'm trying to get running in a kit car. From what I can tell it is expecting a td05 16g turbo. Firstly, are all turbos with this model no the same? I know there's the whole top vs front entry, but that's not an issue as I'm running a longer up pipe.
I've seen a bunch of second hand units on ebay, etc, but there seem to be people selling new turbos for not a lot more. Anyone know if these cheap turbos are any good? or am i asking for trouble
e.g.

The general concencus is that it is a real gamble... some have been known to produce good power and last for ages, some wont make power and fail quickly, some make good power initially but dont last 5 minutes... Personally I would say you are much better buying a second hand one... OR if you can afford it a company called Kinugawa (on ebay) not to be confused with cheap chinese makes do new TD05-16G for approx £500 including a billet wheel.
