Default Oil filters - whats the difference?

As the title, what's the deal with all the different coloured genuine Subaru oil filters ie the black, blue and pink?

Wow, didn't realise it was such a big issue! So, avoid the Subaru filters completely then? I'll check out Opies website.

They're silly money considering how bad they are supposed to be. I'd pay it if I knew it was gonna be fine. Anyone know why the STI pink one is £25? Is it better in some way?

I actually have a Bosch one sitting in the shed I got a few months ago from Euro car parts cos it was free with oil I was buying for something else. Surely that would be a reputable filter?

I read a thread saying they're basically all the same, some of the aftermarket ones reduce flow/filtering, so I've read anyway,

Yeah been reading that myself. That's why I wanted to check it out with you guys. The HKS filter seems to be good, improved flow and reduce pressure drop through the filter. Also has a magnet built in.

I use the bosch ones from eurocarparts, £4.40 each, they're changed every couple of track days and I've never had a problem.
