Default 06 WRX front number plate threads? - Help!!!!!

Just tried to replace my front number plate. I know the OEM Subaru number plate bracket threaded holes are a pain in the ****, metal bracket, plastic screws = snapped screws eventually.

Was taking it easy & slowly but typically both plastic screws have snapped off in the metal threads visible through the bumper holes. Now I try very gently to drill these by hand and.... boom... bracket completely gone from sight! Urgh.

Have so far removed the hawk grill to try and find this metal bracket with no luck.

Anyone got a suggestion that doesn't involve sticking the plate to the front of the car with double sided tape?

When this happened last time Subaru fitted my new plate quite easily. But I can't see how to do it without removing the front bumper completely!

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Have used the same on many of my cars but wanted this one fitted as standard really. Annoying, but I can see me using tape before I have to drive home!

It does come in handy ,, I recently bought some and mistakenly bought 50mm wide stuff which for the price and the stickiness of it turned out to be great value so I bought some more - have bought 3m tape off ebay that was just useless thru not being very sticky - this stuff is good in case you need to top up your supply http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1610060687...84.m1439.l2649

I've had exactly this today, think my bracket is wonky as I can only see one threaded bit in the hole. Was going to take the bumper off but got bored half way though and decided it was too much effort. Used an existing hole somebody has screwed in the plate holder instead. Il tackle it another day.

Yep! Choose your battles they say! Today the number plate won!

Thanks for the link to the tape scoobyskool. I've got some similar to that in my garage and it will quite literally stick anything! Great stuff!

A problem bodged, is a problem solved!
