Please read. May help. Very good guide to subaru mods.
Doing a Legacy Twin turbo conversion is not straight forward or sensible upgrade path.

What is your car and is your claim of 260/280 currently actually backed up by a rolling road graph or it it guess work?
I know someone with a classic wrx that only made 200 when tested. Thought it was much more until he saw it with his own eyes. Eventually got it up to 300bhp and transformed the car.

And this leaves this golf . As a mate got it off me so we put it to the test. I no you don't like street racing so not going there.
Had it rolling road and it was at 238 BHP . I did the air filter.
And I no the or think the ECU is not standed . So I am sure it's 260 lowest . The uk had less power then the jap one . I think the jap import on my year was 240bhp. If that helps . Would like to get 300 . Just don't want the turbo lag. If I miss a gear power gone.
Go on say it don't miss a gear . Lol. And go on say it as well don't street race .
But please keep in mind when me and my mate meet up one go's to one end of the rd , and a other car to the other end . So we don't put other car users to danger. Yes my mate driffting did. But I was not the driver.
Anyway . What turbo shod I go for it a g4 at the mo .

in all seriousness, best bet is find a tuner your happy with using. Set a base line from where the car is now and then discuss upgrade option with them.
just adding power may make the car very crap to drive day to day, so its all about the combined package and then cost vs performance.

I know for a fact mine is 334bhp & 381lb/ft from it's last rolling road. Will not be a great deal more than that. However, I have a friend with a brand new Aston Martin Vantage S which supposedly has 510bhp according to google. Whenever we play around ( on the track) there is absolutely nothing between our cars. he can not pull away from me and vice versa. So by that reasoning I must have 510bhp now.
Seriously though you can't guess the power of your car based on another completely different car. The subaru puts down modest power levels very well.
