Default Another PPP question

Hey,

I've just bought a 2005 PPP WRX and have a question.

I understand that the PPP pack sometimes includes the removal of the cat in the exhaust centre section. I looked at mine a week ago and it looked as if it still had the cat as the heat shields we still in place in the shape of a cat (if you see what I mean). On closer inspection the cat shaped heat shields are empty with just a straight pipe running though.
Question is, do they refit the original heat shields after fitting a decat pipe?
I just want to be sure mine is decatted.

Thanks

That's interesting, my 07 plate Spec D now has PPP. My centre section still has the big sized CAT heat shields, but with a smaller CAT (perhaps half the size of the original one)

I believe so yes. I suppose there's no need to manufacture different heat shields for a straight pipe when the original ones will do.

Hello,

I had PPP on my 06 WRX, I had the resonated centre section removed and a straight through section put in ( no heat shields on that !) PPP as far as I'm aware only includes the prodrive back box, blue inter cooler piping and ecu flash. I have heard lots of different variations of PPP, I'm sure techy on here will enlighten further 👍

WRX PPP is different to STi PPP, that's where the confusion comes from.

bigh221, add scrubber (3rd) cat delete to WRX PPP

THe wrx ppp has a cat in the up pipe and one in the downpipe. A wrx non ppp has these two plus a third just before the centre section starts.

decat pipes don't normally come with heat shields I'd agree...unless they are factory or dealer installed and they take the shield off the cat and refit it to the decat pipe...as they do with the PPP

OK, some do, which explains why the OP has heatshields
