Methanol in Sealed Plastic Petrol Cans
Hi All,
anybody noticed methanol going off in a plastic petrol can after a few months? ive got 5, 5l petrol cans filled from like 6 month ago, when i decanted the bigger 25l drum for easier storage..
just remember hearing somewhere that the colour of the plastic petrol cans come off after a while and contaminate it? is that right? anyone had any issues? ALl looks and smells ok from what i can see.
Thanks

Just like petrol Methanol does 'go off' over time.
I can't comment on whether it strips the colour off plastic cans but it wouldn't surprise me.
I will however say that it really isn't advisable to go sniffing it and you definitely don't want to get any on your skin as it's really nasty stuff and is carcinogenic.
