Default Not boosting

Hello hope you can help I have a 54 plate wrx blobeye running 300 bhp and It only has 62k on the clock. The car drives lovely apart from sometimes when I go to boost it feels like the turbo is not kicking in but must of time it's fine. But I fills like it's doing it more and more now everytime I drive her. I don't drive it every day only at the weekends. So hope you can help.

Thanks louis

Have you noticed a particular time it does it? I.e, after sat at the lights or in traffic for a few mins? What TMIC are you running?

Could be heat soak unless of course it's happening even after cruising for a few mins and then booting it

Not familiar with new age car but my classic does this when the boost solenoid is dirty. Generous dose of carb cleaner normally outs it right.
It might be an air leak in the vacuum system, split pipe to actuator? Airl leak into the intercooler? Check the clips and condition of hoses.

Thanks guys. Yes I have noticed it does it after I sit there with it running for a bit then start driving again. What is at TMIC?

Top mount intercooler

I, living in London, always have troubles with this too. The best way round it, barring not sitting in traffic of course, is to fit a front mounted intercooler. Basically the intercooler absorbs loads of heat when sitting stationary as it's directly on top of the engine. when you pull away and floor it, the charge temp is very high and apart from not having a dense charge and losing power, it can also contribute to det (pinking, pre-ignition, detonation etc). Best off either avoiding flooring it in the future or get a FMIC fitted and have it remapped

Thanks mate. I'm running an Sti one. Say I'm sitting there for 5mins then I set off like sitting at a service station then boosting of the slip road then it will do it. But it has done it once while I was driving along like driving at 30mph then putting my foot down. It has a 3 port boots solenoid and it's been remaped. Sorry for all the questions.

Sitting there for five mins and then putting your foot down would point to heat soaked TMIC but if you were driving along at 30 and then planted the loud pedal, that would point to something else.

I'm sure it's difficult to recall exactly but how long were you driving at 30mph for before putting your foot down? how many times would you say it has done it in total?

Take the pipes off the boost solenoid (make a note of what pipe goes where) and squirt carb cleaner through the ports until it runs through clear. Replace pipes and you should notice an imediate difference.
Last week the boost pressure on my V2 sti dropped to .5 bar, few minutes with the carb cleaner and it was back to 1.5 bar. It has a 3 port solenoid too.

driving along at 30mph once but in total 4-5 time but it's only happened as the weather has started heated up Or it could just be a coincidence.
