Hi mate
Sounds like the exhaust gasket has gone to me
Probably not the up pipe one , but then you never know
Sounds more like the gasket has gone around one of your exhaust manifolds.
Hope that helps But i might be wrong

Not a classic big end, but could be?
What did you do for this to start happening?
How many miles has the car done since it first startedmaking the noise?
Have to checked the oil for foreign material, colour, smell?
Does it do it at all temps?
Does it ever get louder/quieter?
Does depressing the clutch change the noise, frequency, volume?
Need more info dude

Probably covered 150 since it started!!
Strained oil and was completely clean nothing in it at all!!
Does it at all temps very slightly louder when warm!!
Loudest time is pulling away in first/quietest is on boost!!
A little louder with clutch depressed!!

My first thought was maybe something on the exhaust but I'm no mechanic.
Might be worth dropping in to extreme Scoobies at Boreham they might be able to help diagnose it.

Had a really good poke about underneath and found the up pipe heat shield to be hanging off and the noise seemed to go when I held on to it!! So hopefully this is it but still won't be 100% convinced until its removed, hopefully get the chance in the next couple of days and il let ya no!!

Thinking about it, the early blobeyes had an issue with the heat shields coming loose and rattling. Mine did and was fixed under warranty fortunately. I know a lot of people just took them off.
Not sure if it was the same on the Bugeye. Let's hope it's something simple like this.

are you able to localise the noise now the heatshield is gone?
dont worry about losing the love. It happens when things go wrong, the love comes back when they work properly.

Yeah I agree with Dan mate. I nearly bined mine when my maf went wrong and couldn't find the problem. But now it's sorted I couldn't imagine letting it go. You'll get there mate just persevere.

just watched the vid.
that does not sound like a friendly "clunk"
Sounds like a rattley part or binding or something. Was the clutch depressed during that vid?
definately localised to the turbo area?
Louder from underneath?
Have you tried localising it as much as poss? then using a bar of some sort against your ear to determine exactly where its from?

When I had the down pipe off to remove the up pipe I wiggled the the turbine and it has a fair bit of up and down play which I no is not good but could that cause the noise?? But saying that I doubt I would feel that through the clutch pedal!!

The turbine will move up and down slightly, it's in and out movement on that you don't want. And no it's not the noise and no you wouldn't feel it through the clutch pedal.
Does the clutch operate properly?
Does it slip of drag?
Does the noise change when the clutch is depressed?
Does the crank move in or out when the clutch is depressed?
Could be a crank thrust washer broken or collapsed.

Was at my mates garage when I read your post about the crank movement so got him to keep his eye on the crank pulley while I was depressing the clutch did this quite a few times with engine running and with it off and pretty certain there was no movement!!
Cheers for all your help so far mate.

S'okay mate. Just racking my brains to think of everything can without seeing It for myself.
I guess the next thin would be to take the clutch out for inspection.
Under the clutch area, above the stern rack is an inspection plate that allows you to see the clutch from the underside. Maybe worth having a look around here with it running on the ramps and get someone to depress the clutch.
Other than that mate its got to be a strip down to investigate.
Is it drivable?
