Default Clutch Pedal Issue

I got in my car today and the clutch pedal was stuck half way down. Got my foot under, and it sprung back up. Drove it about 5 miles, and sometimes it returns fine, and sometimes it doesn't. It always returns high enough that the clutch is engaged and doesn't slip.
Just wondered if anyone had an experience like this, or may know the cause. It's a 95 classic import btw.
Paul.

Sounds like the return spring is broken either on the bell housing or the return on the pedal.

I had as similar problem on a previous Japanese super car, but I shot some lube down the base of the pedal and all worked fine after that, that was the only issue I had with the Micra

Paul the clutch pressure plate will return it as far as that pushes out. The return spring should keep it fully out.

Right iv had a quick look and the bellhouse spring is not broken. How ever there is fluid leaking either from the clutch cylinder or one of the pipes. Also when the pedal is stuck down, the biting point becomes a lot lower. Any ideas? Because I'm a bit lost now lol

You need to top up the clutch fluid and bleed the cylinder. Best thing is the slave cylinders are external to the bell housing and won't leak on your clutch.
You need to check the unions for leaks and go from there.

Turns out the flexi pipe that goes in the back of the slave cylinder has split.
Now to see how quickly and where I can get one from.

Ok so tonight me and my mate changed the split pipe on the slave cylinder. Tried bleeding the system. There doesn't seem to be any air left but the pedal still won't return fully. When you put your foot on the pedal it feels like a spring pulls the pedal nearly all the way down then it feels like a normal clutch. Also when I went to the car the battery is completely dead. I used it last Friday, so this is no longer normal. I don't know if this would cause a problem with the clutch pedal?

Still no joy mate. Is it worth getting it to a decent garage because it sounds a little odd

Well Im pretty sure its down to not being able to bleed it properly. All this has only happened since the pipe split. We just can't understand why it won't bleed properly.

May sound silly but sometimes you have to pump it really hard and fast unlike when you bleed brakes, we had this problem back in the day when the fiesta's came out with hydralic clutchs or maybe try a pressure bleeder??

Well it turns out it was just air in the slave cylinder after changing the pipe. What an absolute s@*t of a job that was. At least its all sorted now and I'm back in the world of scooby driving.
