Sad news for the ESC.
As many of you will know the ESC have for the last 8 years supported Scoobycity by joining their fund raising convoy of Subarus through Norwich city centre in aid of Children in Need.
Our first CIN convoy was 2003 & who could refuse a request like this.
Those that have attended in the past will know what a great night this is & what a great atmosphere this event produces & how much money it raises for CIN. Cars covered with Pudsey bears & people going in fancy dress (optional) all add to the occasion.
We have even ended up on the telly
And the local constabulary are always very friendly, with a bit of persuasion
And supply some very nice escort vehicles for the convoy.
There had been severe doubts over whether it would happen at all this year due to the Police budget cuts meaning they couldn't give us their usual escort. However the Assistant Chief Constable no less has given the go-ahead to get everything organised as usual. Andy (Dirty Harry) has really gone to the ends of the earth to make sure this happens for us all, so we all owe him a huge amount of thanks. Yet again, we need to stress that without the good reputation Scoobycity has, and the great relationship they have with the Norfolk Constabulary, there would have been NO chance whatsoever of this happening.
There is a slight sad note though. Due to the budget cuts which threatened this years running taking place, this is almost certainly going to be the LAST time we can run the CIN convoy, so please folks, lets do EVERYTHING we can to make it a good one!
Over on Scoobycity there are already 47 cars - CLICK taking part & the list is growing every day. I know it means trying to get the Friday afternoon off work in order to take part but if you have an odd day's holiday owing what better way to spend it than waking up Norwich city centre with the Flat Four rumble.
One important point to make - the convoy is for Subaru vehicles only but all people are welcome to come along and hitch a lift even if they don't own a Subaru. Fancy dress is optional, but encouraged - making more of a fun atmosphere for the night! And as before there will be hot food available at The Village Inn, Little Melton afterwards for those that want.

CHILDREN IN NEED CONVOY TO NORWICH
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 18TH
(Early Evening)
FRIDAY NOVEMBER 18TH
(Early Evening)
A few points to help you have the best time at the event.
1. Please aim to arrive at Makro from 6.30pm onwards, and park at the bottom of the car park, away from the store entrance. Please hand your entrance donation money - minimum £5 per car and any other funds you've raised, to one of the team members brandishing a bucket! Mike (Herebyaccident) will have some adhesive vinyl event stickers available for purchase once again at £5 each, so please adorn your car with as many as you like to show you're part of the convoy and what we're all doing.
2. When we start forming the convoy at approximately 7pm, please be ready and waiting in your cars, but DO NOT move out of your parking space until directed to do so by a uniformed officer. Drive around the bottom of the car park in a loop and join the convoy where directed - this will avoid any bottlenecks along the front of the store.
3. Have your lights on, but NO foglights or hazard lights.
4. Keep the gap to the car in front to a minimum to ensure the convoy stays together without interruption from members of the public, but leave enough space to brake safely - speeds will be low, but we don't want any shunts!
5. Uniformed officers will be closing off junctions, roundabouts etc to enable us to pass through uninterrupted - this INCLUDES going through red lights when directed to do so. Only stop to avoid causing an accident, or if directed to do so by a uniformed officer.
6. When we halt for the regroups on Lower Clarence Road and Castle Hill, DO NOT leave your vehicles.
7. When we reach Gentlemans Walk, please park to the side of the road where directed by a uniformed officer in a herringbone (that is angled) pattern. This is a pedestrianised area, so please drive down Gentlemans Walk at walking pace.
8. Anyone wishing to eat at our final destination, The Village Inn, Little Melton (where we have our monthly meets), will need to be at the pub NO LATER than 9pm. We will no longer be escorted by the Police when we leave Gentlemans Walk, so remember to STOP at red lights, junctions etc - we will have to obey the laws of the road once again! You are free to leave Gentlemans Walk at your leisure, but leave enough time to get to the pub for your hard-earned dinner! The pub have set aside their function room for our exclusive use.
9. Lastly...........have fun, enjoy the night, and remember to raise as much money as you can!

Cheers for that mate. It would be good to get some local RB5s to come along. We use the BP garage for the pre-meet as there is plenty of room & it has loos.

Assuming Google directions is correct, traveling time is 1hour 45 mins, so leaving at 4.45 would get us there for 6.30

If you want we can leave @ 4.30pm if people are ok getting to the BP by 4.15pm. I know some struggled to get there for 5.00pm due to work etc.
Let me know your views on moving the time forward or not.

I have moved it forward a bit. We used to leave at 5.00pm but it always seemed a bit tight for time especially with the evening traffic. We still used to get to Norwich before 7.00pm despite all the speed limits & cameras along the A140 & the convoy leaves nearer to 7.30pm.
