03 WRX VS EP3 CIVIC TYPE R???
i need something answered, My brother owns a standard EP3 civic type r, he seems to think it will eat my 03 wrx (with cat back and BOV), now i dont think it will, he will not put it up next to mine, personally because i think he knows, but, i need some one to put an end to this brotherly bickering for me!
has any1 been up against one of these that can answer this for me,
The civics are quite nippy little things but feel like you have to rag them to get any sort of power and i think the scoob with be at peak before the civic.

ive had an ep3 and off the line ud blitz one obviously but i would say it be very close when rolling. they not bad esp after a couple simple mods, im running 330 and can do a lot to get away from my mates 255bhp ctr off the line in a 1/4 mile id kill it but if side by side rolling id struggle to pull away but would just. u lose a lot of power through out the 4wd systems.

I had a wrx chase me, i was pulling away from it easily in 3rd.. my ep3 is only lightly modded with bolt ons.
i've left my mates STi v3 estate for dead also in my integra type r turbo which was only running 260 ish with a small hks turbo and 0.5 bar. But his version 6 sti saloon is extremely fast for a standard car bar an exhaust/downpipe-decat.
Wouldnt say there was much in it between a wrx and ctr, probably more of a drivers race/condition then a car race.

sorry to bump this thread but I'm in the same boat now!
Here's the story...
I've always wanted a Type R especially when my cousin had a '02 Plate CTR' back a few years in 06. Its very well known on the 'streets' in Leicester and Birmingham I'm pretty sure others aswel. So recently i became carless after a crash and I've just rebuilt my financial status back, i need a car. Recently like 3 days ago, i drove my cousins 03 CTR which was HONDATA K-PRO'd, new inlet, exhaust mani, spoon b pipe, induction kit and magnex oval exhaust system etc and achieved 240bhp which to me it felt insanely fast! He's a member over on midlandscoobies and he's told me its definitely faster than his old uk300! So now i'm in the same boat whether i should get his CTR as hes selling it or a WRX Bugeye which my friend is selling (lestacar) or a classic STi.. Decisions decisions

Scooby will have a lot more torque than the honda. Its also got nearly 30bhp more in the relative standard forms, and just over half a second quicker 0-60 book times iirc. I was disappointed when i first went out in one, the whole 'vtec' thing really isnt all that its made out to be. does sound nice though. Honda will need to be hitting 6krpm before its get its full power as well remember.

^^ some previous threads did mention a standard wrx bugeye vs type R - the type r will win!
I'm just looking into a few things as i've heard the version 4 has the infamous bottom end problem which i dont fancy spending money on if ineed to! i just want a car that i can get in and driveaway with and only service it every 6months or so!
