Default EJ20 bits

I am picking up my scooby tonight But i will be need a good second hand crank and rods or a engine with head gasket failure. Anyone know where i can them or got any?? roughly what price?? In the essex area.

got 2 engines with the car both with suspected big end failure. The engine in the car sounds like a skelton having a w*nk in tin can with metal elbow pads on. So doubt that that the crank and rods will be any good in there now. Plus the other engine has already been stripped down, it does have a slight mark on the crank, not sure it will polish out but prob not worth running the risk on it?

I will be doing all the spanner work myself keeps the cost down.
Any help or info would be great.

Dont think the bank will like that price tag at the moment. :-( I just trying to get it up and running for the time being then will start building another engine to a better spec fully forged, poss get a 2.1 kit. works about the same for the parts.

What about getting parts imported over from us?

Out of interest how much did they charge you?

The only reason i looking down the route of one head gasket probs is i can then use the crank and rods out of it to put in one of the blocks i got with uprated bearings. If i bought another engine i wouldnt trust the bearings so i would be stirpping it down and doing the same thing. But it would be more costly doing it that way i reckon. plus dont know if it has big end probs already.

Shane,

I didn't buy an engine from them, but they got me out of a bind with a replacement backbox.

Give them a call tomorrow when they are open.

The reason I have suggested 'get another engine', is by the way the posted above saying you were changing the engine for one you were building anyway, and this was to be a 'stop gap' solution ..... At least this is how I read it.

Just thought the replacement engine would be more cost effective even as a stop gap solution, as things can soon spiral.

Sorry i didnt explain myself very well.

Yeah i was going to sling another engine from a breakers, but could last 1 week and be in the same postion thats my only concern(been there before). I will give them a ring tomorrow see what price they can come up with. I have found one with uprated bearings for £500 but it is northern ireland.

I basilcally want to have a standard engine for the time being in the car, but with uprated bearings. So then i know it wont give up that quickly.

But i have another engine that i will be building to a better spec over a period of time, spreads the cost a bit then. Plus then i could build a strong engine I.e forged.

Cheers shane

so £1200 all in then you have to fit or pay to have it fit
so about 1500ish
you might as well spend that on goodie and start your build
buy a 100 quid banger to plod around in , then that will motovate you to get it done lol

just a thought

Luckly i already got a run around my E36 320ise. I will be doing the build etc. But its where i got the car stored i have limited time for it being there so want to get it running. then sell the bm to make a start on buying the bits for the second engine. That will cover half of the stuff. Once thats built i can sell the first engine get some money back. Sounds good in theory, always does tho. What company did you get the £1200 qoute for the bits from?? I post a vid up of the engine rattling away in the general tech area. Are you doing your build or getting someone else to do it?

Cheers shane
