Insurance time again (ouch!)
Hmmmm, got my renewal through today from Admiral - £946 + £300 excess for fully comp insurance on my standard 05 WRX wagon .
The cheapest quote so far is from Sky @ £842 + £350 excess, which is better but still not great! I have tried KM (no reply as yet) & Adrian Flux who wanted £1500 + , which I thought is pretty crap for a 'specialist' insurer!
Im 31, with 10 yrs NCB, no points & standard car, kept on driveway. I live in Basildon, Essex SS14 postcode which is not a particularly high crime area as far as Im concerned. I have heared that car insurance is rising but to me my quotes so far take the ****!
Any recommendations for a decent insurer would be greatly welcomed, or may have to consider selling, which I dont really want to do..........
Cheers guys

make sure you ONLY speak to moley tho as others won't do as good a deal. My slightly modded RS is with moley and £200 cheaper than your lowest. Mine is garaged and I have 4 years on you too tho. lol

Thanks to Gary at KM I have at last got a decent quote for my next years insurance, so it looks like the Wagon will be staying under my ownership.
Still a bit higher than I would like but its almost £150 cheaper than Sky quoted me, so things are looking better!
Just pisses me off that in over 10 years of driving I have only made 1 claim in that time, after my car was hit when parked by an uninsured / hit & run pikey & we, the people who pay for insurance have to put up with increasing premiums to cover the pikey scum who consider it OK to drive uninsured vehicles & the rise in the compensation culture we seem to be living in today.
I often wonder how hard would it be to have the national insurance database linked to petrol forecourt cameras, so if your vehicle is not shown as insured, you cant get any fuel. I know its not that simple but it would make it harder for uninsured drivers to fuel up!
Since filing out forms for insurance on comparison websites, I have had more than 8 calls in the past 2 weeks or so from the 'No win no fee' vultures asking me about my claim that I made in 2008 to see if I want to sue for compensation!
Rant over, I will put the soap box away now lol!

Yeah give me a call and i'll see what i can do.
Unfortunately we hear the ''i have never made a claim'' thing all the time, but it only takes 1 claim to wipe out every premium you've paid in the last 10-15 years.
Last year a guy was ranting for about 20 minutes that he'd never made a claim, insurance was a rip off, and he shouldn't have to pay it, etc....
About 2 months later he hit a people carrier in the rear, and they claimed £35k personal injury.
The £550 per year he pays suddenly seems a very low amount!!!

Its not that I dont think I should pay for my insurance, I would never consider driving uninsured.
I know that insurance companies, as businesses, have to make money, but what really ****s me off is that I my car gets hit by some uninsured **** who assumes its OK to drive uninsured, & no doubt unlicensed who doesnt stop & I have to pick up the bill through increased premiums, all through no fault of my own
If I hit or damaged someones car, through my own fault then I accept I am liable & my premiums would increase as such!
But big thanks to Moley who seems to have sorted me a good deal!

mine is up for renewal too, Quoteline are looking about £60 more than last year, I looked on the meerkat and the cheapest I got was £356 but it didn't have alot of options that some of the dearer one's have so I think I'll go with a local company called Hughes at £380, the cheapest that gocompare could come back with was over £500 !!!!
a my93 1.6GL classic with 10+ years no claims (protected) with 2 settled accidents (both not my fault) in the last 3 years and 3 points a few months ago

for the ten years i had a modded car greenlight in brentwood gave me the best deal as they only deal with sports and modded cars, as soon as i got a normal family car (focus estate) they wouldn't insure me lol
CAN'T wait til Jan, i put mine and my wife's insurance on the admiral multi car policy, how much will they both be together now

I have an 02 STi and a 04 Volvo V40 on the Admiral multicar. Quote came in for £902 is July, went on a few comparison sites, and found separate companies to insure a vehicle each for about £700ish. Called Admiral and said I would prefer to stay with them, but would have to move. They "recalculated" and got it to £692 for both vehicles. I paid it in full there and then!!
