Default Memory Lane

The amusing thread with Conrod, got me thinking of yesteryear, so I dug out some old pic's and have scanned them. Those of you of a certain age may enjoy them.

My mates 1275GT, Engine in/out?

I hate green, but loved my 3.1S Capri - some of you may recognise the location?

Andy and I at the start of strip down - note the lovely clean colour matched overalls, and no I can't rememeber why he had an umbrella.
Any one recognise my little helper?

Seam welded, caged, finally after over a year the new engine goes back in.

After the RS2000 was stolen, I bought a damaged RS1600i, can you see how impressed my Mum was! RS owners track day at Brands

What the **** did I look like! Year one with the Dutton, 1st sprint event at Watton Airfield.

Year 2 at a Sprint at Millbrook

1st and 2nd Year Karting, both at Tilbury I think, my employer sponsored me in year 2.

My 3rd and finally year (thanks Simon!), my sponsor that year's logo allowed me to model the Kart on Senna's at that years Bercy event.
My brother helping with the hat, and who's the tiny brunette?

Lastly, anyone recognise this little fella in the Zip Kart?

The Dutton ran a std 1.6 x-flow in the 1st year (approx 85hp), and then I built a very high compression 1.7 x-flow, with twin 40/45's for year 2, running around 127hp at the wheels.
Capri never went on a rolling road, but prob no more than 170/180 bhp, the RS2000 was a grp 1 engine, running 48 dell's and around 190bhp.

We used to drive to events, so although the army surplus biggles jacket looked ridiculous, it was very warm

My list of race cars all RWD;

Mk 1 Escort RS2000

Hillman Imp Mid mounted RS2000 engine

Rover SD1 3.5 v8 tuned to 275hp

Mk 2 Escort RS 2000

Toyota starlet RS2100 engine.

writing this list makes me think I must of had a fixation for the 2.0 pinto engine.
And also each car brings back memories.
Will try and find some pictures of each one.

I really can't believe you two - clearly shows how memories fade the older you get!

Neither of you have mentioned your most recent & possibly most sucessful racecar - 100% winnig record?

Oh, and thanks Neil - I really needed Si wanting to turn out the cupboard to look for his old pics - I am trying to tidy up as mother is visiting for half term.......

Hils, the title was Memory Lane, and to me the MLR and indeed TA Subaru stuff, is still fairly current
