Holiday Memories......
Having just sorted through some 400+ photos taken from my little trip to Rhodes I thought you might like to see some of the more interesting ones………
All were taken on my compact camera – won’t risk taking my DSLR abroad (seen too many stories where tourists are targeted by local lads, so compact it is…).
Temperatures were mainly 26C-28C and blue skies for the whole week, even in the first week of October, so can’t complain about the weather, was a bit of a shock when arriving back at Stansted though!
This was the view from the room each day:
Every night the sunsets were just stunning……. This was the best one I took…
Went to this little place – the Lindos Acropolis… This is what it looks like looking up towards it from the bay at the bottom…
This is what it looks like when you finally climb up and get inside..
This is the view over the bay though, which I quite liked…
This is a close up of the boats in the bay….
I also went on a 2hr ferry trip to a little island called Symi, touted as the most beautiful of the Dodecanese Islands. This is as we came into the harbour…
They do a lot of “Sponge Diving” here and this display was in one shop that I liked…
They also had an unusual memorial to WWII in the harbour…
I saw this and couldn’t resist taking a photo……. The shopkeeper called it “Cornie”….. lol
Then the ferry stopped at a Monastery where you can apparently rent rooms by the day, but the only time you see anyone is when the daily ferry arrives, apart from that it’s total solitude….
And finally…….
At the bottom of Rhodes, the Mediterranean Sea meets the Aegean Sea and there is a strip of sand that keeps the two apart (most days) and it’s unusual to find the meeting point of two seas, so a picture was needed!
By the way – only saw one Scooby the whole trip – a debadged WR Blue WRX with a nice body kit, 18” OZ wheels and a Blitz Exhaust – otherwise all the cars I saw there were boring….

Yes mate - used Canon's Photostitch program for the "wide" ones - took the photos with the intention of stitching them together once home.. not all came out OK, limitations of using a compact camera unfortunately, but these were fine.....

Symi, as I arrived on the ferry at the same time as 800 others, it got a bit crouded in the harbour area, but once the ferry has gone I guess it gets back to being the nice quiet greek fishing port that it really is.... lots of sea food in all the restuarants and they were all very busy...
