Default Great day out - Birds of Prey

We went to Eagle Heights in Kent this weekend, haven't been there for a few years, the last time was a falconry experience day, following a family day out. it's a great day out for people who like bird's of prey and families, they have shows running through most of the day and a lot of aviaries and exotic birds on show, a few mammals and REPTILES for KevD

here are a few pic's I took.

Bald Eagle

African Fish Eagle

Falcon (can't remember which one)

Peregrine Falcon

Obviously the Falcons were a little hard to get pictures of as they were flying them with lures so were travelling rather quick

To top the day off this was a real treat, as far as I'm aware they are the only place you can see this done.

They have 2 Cheetah's,

Granted it wasn't running at full speed, but must have been around 50+ mph, and yes there was just a rope fence between us and the Cheetah, but it was attached to a Zip line and fully harnessed up for safety, it was chasing a dead rabbit (Lunch) being pulled by a washing machine motor
It's been Hand reared for a baby, and very friendly with the keeper.

As you'd expect there is only one form of transport for the worlds fastest land animal...

Looks like a great day Mark and great pics too
May get my fool to take me if we get some free time!

Last year Steve and I had a Falconry afternoon flying some Harris Hawks and a Barn Owl it was great to be up close... except for when you have 2 hawks land on you at once ... 1 on glove and 1 on bare arm... wow those claws are defo sharp!

Would love to spend a day flying in them!

Yvette got me a day there for my Birthday, flying Harris Hawks, which are gregarious, so hunt in small groups, spent a few hours in the morning learning about birds, meeting and handleing a fair few to understand and differences, then after lunch went out for a walk with the birds into some woods.

They have loads of different days there, Including the big Eagles.

For a day out it's not far, just down the road from Brands Hatch

One of my Favorites, almost looks like it turned it's head to look at the camera, plus got the Keeper with the lure in the background

Did you see this exact Cheetah on the News last night, showed it getting into the back of the Fozzie as well

They tried putting an inhumane slant on the Cheetah being kept in this country and trying to teach it to hunt for Rabbits.
