Spider Update....
Right just lifted an envelope of the top of the ironing board, which i put on there earlier today, and low and behold, this evil little spider (deffo the one i saw the other week) was just sitting there..... - anyway after freezing for about (what seemed like an hour) but was prob only 10 seconds i got a bit of kitchen towel and got him. i willed him not to move as i lunged at him!!!!
squished him to bits in the towel and binned him.
what i want to know is why the hell he bothered to climb up and ironing board??? its not like there is a fly shop at the top is it??
anyway may he rest in peace, i know i will now !!!

Hilary, i bet that picture worried you more than other people......
as they say, the best cure for a phobia is probably to handle / touch / understand them.
seemed to work with me and scary dogs, after seeing Gooner and his guard dogs, and understanding them (via loads of questions to the owners) i'm quite happy to be around them now, in fact i went round Bri4an's shortly afterwards and his Ozzy wouldn't leave me alone. hahahhaha

And to worry you further
This story was received by Camelspiders.net.
According to the soldiers relatives; the bite must have happened while he was sleeping. He wasn't even aware that he had been bitten. He woke up to a large lump on his arm. Then while out on maneuvers, the cyst-like area ruptured open. He was then sent on to the MASH Unit in Kuwait. They dug everything out (puss & ??) then packed it with gauze, put him on a strong round of antibiotics with instructions to re-pack the site several times a day. The area was too large for them to stitch shut. They claimed that it would cause an air pocket under the skin. So it had to be allowed to heal from the inside - out! It seems to have healed pretty well, leaving a small scar about the size of a penny.
