I know the MD series turbos are ok without a DV. But the subaru standard turbos do have issues as there is a build of pressure which causes issues for the bearings and oil seals.
In a nut shell, best to check with the experts.

when you say have nothing, you do mean block it off, dont you?
i have blocked mine off, running a ported td05 and front mount.

you also need to consider that your fuelling will be wrong. there will be air pressure in the system, when previously the pressure would be released (i.e. will run lean).
The opposite is true of the VTA DV which makes it run rich.
So it will prob need to be mapped with no DV

If you do go to mocom, i would suggest a 4 wheel alignment. Not knocking your car, but the front camber is wrong and showed positive when we followed going to Brighton, so would be worth getting the alignment all round done to get a sweet handling car.

I have no DV just a blanking plate, and I have a standard TD04, all I done was have it mapped with this in mind, not had no problems and from what I have been told shouldn't see any.

When I was looking at removing my dump valve, I was reliably informed that there would be no problem as long as I have a TD05, which mine is. Mine has front mount and no dump valve and it's been like this for over a year of hard driving. Never had any problems with it at all and it sounds the absolute dogs doodars. I was told you can't really take the dump valve off if you have a TD04??? I look at it this way....its been fine so far and if it ever does go bang, TD05's don't really cost the earth to replace!
I say go for it, you will love the noise
