Default Autobaseltd????

Hi guys, looking for a classic scooby. Found one at autobaseltd in Rainham. Thought that you would be the people to ask. Good or bad rep? Maybe someone could pop and have a look for me as I'm a good few hours away. Thanks guys

If its where I think it is they have some absolutely shocking looking cars there.

Really dodgy bodykits and generally quite tatty looking.

That's if its where I'm thinking of.

What you looking for ?

Not being funny mate, and no disrespect to anyone there, but rainham industrial areas are full of breakers yards, stolen goods, gippos, the works

i'm happy to go and check the place out, but i wouldn't want to leave my car anywhere near there!!!

there are loads of scoobies about and maybe a bit nearer home might be better for you and at least you wont pressure yourself into buying it, especially if you have to travel for it.

Is it something special? As ScoobDC says, "what exactly are you looking for?"

sorry to put a dampener on things !! - just looking out for ya !!

Dazza

edited post so as not to cause insult to any local residents (which was never my intention)

This place is around the corner from me. It's in Dagenham, not Rainham. All of the cars are imports and mostly all of them have had bodywork damage and have been repaired, normally to a basic standard. In saying that most seem mechanically good with the usual JDM extra's fitted.

Was it the black classic he has in by chance?

If so it has had front end damage repaired and currently has no spots/covers/indicators or bumper vents. The car has a fresh black respray, which looks ok from the road. If you want any of the motors checked out let me know and I'll take a walk around to them.
To be honest the prices he asks seem ok for the motors he has and he will cut a deal for a sale. With the black one at £3990 and if he cuts a deal it wont be a pricey motor.
I'll walk in case Dazza is lurking to nick my wheels and blame the locals

nice find F/E

lol its got supercue's old MX5 steering wheel on it

if this was the stacked up one, it might be a good job, but is it worth the risk from a dealer/trader you dont know.
Its all about making money for the least outlay to these companies.

looks like a new rad under the rusty coverplate, so could have been a front ender.

be good to ask the question to them and if they have pics (which im sure they do)

i dont mind popping down there and asking some questions... if you really want.

having said that, its a bit close to the mardyke estate for my liking !!! (eeeekk!!)

Yep, thats the car. I take it from the comments they are best laid to rest. He did offer me a warranty which you dont get private although saying that I don't want a pig with a warranty!! I'm looking for a classic, blue, black or white. Don't matter what model as long as it has Sti power or there abouts. Really looking for a minter. What do you guys reckon to these?

You could just test them out. Phone them & let them know you are miles away in Norfolk and ask if they could answer a few questions about the car.

Ask each question one at a time & then say nothing. Let them dig the hole if they are going to.
  1. Did it need much doing to it after they had imported/acquired it?
  2. Has it had any body work done to it?
  3. Has it had any new panels fitted?

If they fess up all well & good. It still doesn't mean the car is sound but it gives the company some credence.

If they don't then mention the new rad & tell them a "friend" passing their site saw it stripped for a front end repair. See how they handle being "outed".
