Default 2008 - 2009

As you know, I've had a really **** 2008. The biggest issue was my brother in February.

The things continued with the CSA telling me I'm over £1000 in arrears and demading £120 a week , so to say I've struggled financially is an understatement, and had to sell my motorbike to help pay for Christmas.

I know I've been distant last year, it seemed to be one thing after another, especially with the scoob. It's spent more time in pieces than I've actually driven it, and only done 650 miles.

I sorted the rad out this week and took it for a drive, and a load of steam started pouring out through the vents. I pulled over into a layby at Coryton and found that I left the rad cap off like a prat! put back on and it's cured!! Pulled out of the layby sharpish and lit up all 4 wheels - It's running like a dream
I also fitted red mud flaps and while the rear wheels were off, I attacked the arches with an angle grinder so now the 235 tyres now clear them! The only rubbing now is when the flaps hit the ground!!

For 2009, I'm determined to make it a good year, and my resolutions are to get the Mk2 project going and to get out of this rut.

Thanks for all your support over the last year, the ESC does stand out from other car clubs by miles, and I've been in quite a few, so may it continue!!

I'm currently making offers like mad to get the Mk2 project going, so hopefully I may need that trailer soon

Lets hope 2009 is a good year for you Paul as I know 2008 has been tough?

2008 Was a bit of a roller coaster for me too. It ended on a real low with the death of my close cousin Paul it really shocked us all, such a huge waste of a life! I believe over 500 people turned up to his funeral, their was so many that they had to leave the doors open so everyone could hear?

So I would like to take the time thank the Essex Air Ambulance who flew him to hospital and for trying so hard to do everything they could, and also the Police who went to find Tina his wife who was out buying his xmas present at the time, they drove her to the hospital in london, she said she has never been so fast in a car before?

I would also like to take a moment to thank all of you for the fundrasing work that we do for the EAA. As you know the EAA are not goverment funded they run purely on public donations, and at a £1000 a flight its not cheap. But what we raised at the Tunnel run would have paid for his flight and nearly 2 others, so keep up the good work

Anyway I want to get as much out of 2009 as I can starting with my Kite Bugging lessons LOL, I am also hoping to get to see more of you guys this year to

2009 BRING IT ON

Chris....

Thanks David, have replied

I've made offers for 1 Mk1 Escort and 2 Mk2's but they didn't reply and the Escort Ed found had too many missing parts, ie no interior, no gearbox, engine etc

I plan to comletely strip a car down, weld on new wings/sills etc and a full respray in either diamond white, signal yellow or modena green, but preferably want a complete car to play with

Good luck mate, if you need a hand collecting an escort let me know, might need a few days notice as our transporter will be swapped back to a flatbed again in the next few days i would think but only takes an hour or so to swap back.

Thanks Steve

Been offered 2 swaps so far:

P reg golf Cabriolet and a X reg Vectra SRi

I hated every moment in the GTI and think vectra's are bland, oh well hopefully things will improve

sent the guy an email offering a swap for the scoob, so just playing the waiting game now. The RS is only worth around £3500 in it's present condition. the rear quarted panels are either bare metal or in primer, needs some welding, some trim and a full respray.

Whatever car I'll get in the end, it will have a full photo restoration blog on my website

well fingers crossed for you mate. looking forward to it once you get going. almost tempted to out the cabbie for a mk2 cortina. slightly cheaper than the mk1 / 2 escort and still pretty cool once it's got similar mods to what you are planning.

There is a guy here at work who restores and mods old cortinas.

He has done quite a few now.

The current one is running some sort of Cosworth & NOS combo on it

He uses this site/forum: BuySellCortina - Ford Cortina website

He has so much knowledge about old fords, if there is anything you need to ask, I'm sure he will now about it or know someone that does

Thats my second choice mate, either a Mk1 or Mk2 Cortina. IMO there's not many classic cars out there that can beat a classic Ford, well, apart from a Triumph TR6
