Xbox session for non-party'ers tonight
right tonight i will be mainly drifting and shooting (not at the same time)
yes, thats right a mix of forza2 and cod4.
if anyone else fancies a sesh, i'll be on from 8 ish

cant stand all this f'in new years ****e.
its another year and what a horrible one its going to be for millions of people loosing jobs, homes etc

right got all the bits i need at long last to get online. hooked it all up and no joy 
it says that i need it linked to my pc but i just want it setup on its own. saying something to do with dns server doesn't match. do i really need it hooked up like that?

have aol broadband and have hard wired the xbox into the netgear router - not sure of the model. (i also have another modem that i can use if needed.) When i run the system test it showed that the ip address was fine but the dns was wrong.
If it comes to it then i'll have to put the pc upstairs with the xbox. just don't facy moving all the spaggetti from behind the unit downstairs lol.

you can make the dns entry either the internal router ip address, or an external ip address.
ps: you can only do this if the router is configured for dns.
a typical aol dns server is:- 205.188.146.145
whereas the router is prob 192.168.1.1 or similar.
go into your pc, click on start / run and then type cmd in the open box
in the black cmd screen type in
ipconfig /all and then press enter.
it should show you the dns servers ip address along with other info.
make the xbox setting the same as the pc.
ps: you can only do this if the router is configured for dns.
a typical aol dns server is:- 205.188.146.145
whereas the router is prob 192.168.1.1 or similar.
go into your pc, click on start / run and then type cmd in the open box
in the black cmd screen type in
ipconfig /all and then press enter.

yup router dns is 192.168.0.1 on mine.
will get the pc at home booted up to get the numbers. still running at a snails pace
. another reason for not wanting to run the 360 through it.bit of luck i'll be online tonight then. have a few tasty motors on forza
