Driving Abroad question???
I understand a few of you regularly go abroad in your vehicles and as I am off to France for the new year!!!
I was wondering if there was anything I needed to do or get before I go abroad in the car??
I would be grateful for any advise given..........

Spare set of bulbs
Red Warning triangle.
ORIGINAL log book
Insurance documents.
Hi Viz jacket for ALL occupants. They need to be readily available (ie inside the car). This was brought in over the Summer. By all accounts the local Constabulary make random checks on this.
Can't think of anything else off the top of my head.

France is 100 times better than the UK on all levels.
You'll have a fantastic time, last year we spent new years in Germany, drove into Alsace region and stayed in Strasbourg. even took a day trip into Switzerland to have a snowball fight by the lakes.
France ais a stunningly beautiful country and you will have a fantastic time.
I'm not jealous (much!!!!)
if your not in a hurry, avoid the toll roads and take in the scenery, the chance to stop in little villages, and take lots of pictures.
Drive carefully and most of all, have a fantastic time!!!

Be warned, they can time you between tolls and work out your average speed. Also, if you going into the mountains and there is a risk of snow, by law you will need to have snow chains in the car.

If you don't have the Euro style number plates with the nationality on it then I believe you're suppoed to have a GB sticker somewhere on the rear.
Also supposed to have headlight deflectors.
Not sure how hard these are enforced though.

No SatNav? Why not?
Never heard of that one before. Driven right through France, Belgium and Germany over the last 3 years with the Satnav on the dash and never had a problem.
