Default Had enough now, I've finally snapped!!

Driving home from work today in the scoob, the engine died on me, and refuses to start!!

Fortunately, when it happened, I pulled over and seconds later Wilf pulls up and towed me home, Thanks mate, you're a star

It didn't go bang, and it turns over fine, but won't catch, so hopefully it's something nice and easy to sort out, but I've had enough now - The Scoob is definately going and it's on with the Mk2 escort project, good bye Xtreme's, Mocom, Roger Clark and Hello Specialised engines and Burton Power!

Getting really fed up with it now

So its an actual physical misfire rather than a Engine light code telling you its a misfire. Bummer.

Did you buy a new maf or borrow one to test, as they are like £300

Yes, nothing showing up as faulty, only when I drive it, seems fine when you take it easy, but as soon as I give it some beans it seems to hesitate and jump about like anything.

Tried Frayz's MAF and coil-packs (known good workers) which was really good of him to lend them to me but didn't make a difference.

Only happens under load, can rev it fine out of gear. It seems to be intermitant, sometimes I can floor it in all the gears and it's absolutely fine, but most of the time it kicks in every gear and under all sorts of load. Not driving it till I can sort it out, but haven't a clue what to try next

Expensive bits to replace just on the basis of elimination, Frayz

Hope you get it sorted, shame you can't get it on a laptop ?

Thanks Zak, the car has only done 600 miles since Feb when I MOT'd the car, but it's one silly little thing after another! AND I treated the biatch to some new windscreen wipers yesterday! To be honest mate, and I'm sure you'll agree, that a UK turbo isn't really a good starting point for the mods we discussed, as EVERYTHING will need to be uprated, UK gearboxes are naff, so would need a 6 speeder as a minimum, then brakes, suspension. This has been playing on my mind for a while now, and find it hard to warrant spending several grand on a scoob again. Bad mistake selling my old car

The engine turns over no problem, fuel pressure gauge reads 4 bar, and was pulling nicely just before hand, though it wasn't ragged, only doing 60MPH beforehand, and it does try to catch, so maybe it's jumped a tooth on the cam belt.

Might have a look tonight when I get in, if I can be bothered, the car has been left where Wilf and I pushed it lastnight, with tow rope still attached.

had a motor that done this once. all it was was a earth strap that was loose. had a similar thing on my rs turbo and all that was was again a loose wire on the starter motor. engine mount had gone and when i put my foot down it pulled on the cable. may be worth a look.

Bad times mate.
But good times if you need parts from Burtons. I love going in there and I 've never owned a Ford. They know what they are talking about and you could build an engine from scrap from their catalogue.
One of the guys there has got a MK1 Escort Van with something sepcial under the bonnet.

Used Burtons with my old Mk2 Escort, excellent service, and as you say, can spend hours just browsing the showroom

I've always found burtons spot on - apart from the price. they always seem to be a bit on the expensive side.
