Spec c is a later import mate 02 onwards....

A little like my RA. Stripped out and lightweight

I'd mod yours then declare the mods....

Nothing is going to be cheap to insure...

Buy mneame's stripped out RA then upgrade the fueling and intercooler and put on a massive turbo...

I don't think you'll be happy with anything Tom unless you get something like a Lotus 7 kit/Mini with a bike engine!!!

What kind of driving experience do you want?

If your looking at big power, you might want to look at internals too.....

2.5 conversion maybe?

I'm not being funny, but Knowlesy isn't the be all and end all of Subaru tuning. You're best of chatting with someone like Zak at Mocom Racing, someone who specifically modify cars

wait there is kinda more to it than that the sound that comes from the subarus is also what pulled me in its a great lookin very fast car for the money iv got three choices relli stick with my present scooby and slowly mod it or buy an sti(uk spec) or buy a ford focus and be board every time i go out but to be honest im getting conflicting advice all the time and as soon as iv made my mind up someone else raises another mind changing point its all getting very confusing

Ultimately youre not going to get anything that scares you for that sort of money unless its a cossie or already tuned classic impreza.

Tuning is expensive no matter which way you go, but you dont need a million horses to have a very quick car. A stock internaled 2.5 with an FP green in a stripped out lightweight classic would be pretty ballistic.

Bang on althought the turbo choice may be pushing it, a 20g would suffice if tuned correctly. Lightweight =

I know a fairly hard core classic that would be around the figures your talking and that would be more than powerful enough... and there's always scope to mod further...

Tom, so your saying you can't get insured on an import? Have you spoke to Moley?

If so.... strip yours down and 2.5 conversion with supporting mods.

I'd look around for insurers though....

Why not just have a track car and then just have something for running around.

Shop around for insurers - we used to use Sky Insurance as they specialise in in fast/modded/import cars. I've never been to moley as now we have traders insurance but often see thanks given to him.
Good luck

If insurance is a deciding factor some 05 sti's had the PPP fitted from new ( Subaru threw it in for a few months for free to shift a few extra cars).Because of this some insurance companies have this listed as a specific model ,and therefore you don't have to list the PPP as extra mods ..

Just a thought as you could probably pick one up within your price range now
