Tyre dilemma

Tyre dilemma
Right guys, just bought a set of Bugeye STI rims for my classic. I've already got the WRX versions on, but am anticipating the purchase of some Brembo's
Current tyres I have are Eagle F1's, which I like, 215/45/17's, but they rub when cornering and people in the back.
The tyres on the STI rims, are almost new Bridgestone Potenza's, RE040 or something, and are 225/45/17's.
Should I:
1. Have the tyres taken off the WRX rims, to go on the STI ones?
The problem with that is, I will then have STI dimension tyres, on WRX rims, that won't clear STI Brembos. Making them harder to sell.
2. Sell the WRX rims as they are, purchase some more tyres for the STi rims, in a better profile/width? Then sell the Potenza's separate?
3. Leave the STI rims as they are, and sell the WRX rims as they are.
Bit of a tricky one for me, and when I put the WRX rims up for sale, I'd put them on here first, so it could work in someones favour.

I'm guessing by the year of your car, it is a Classic. I personally would go with a new set of tyres on the rims, though saying that, the current RE070's 'should' not cause any real problems, and I think you will find them a better tyre than the Eagle F1, and as a plus, when the tyres eventually get low tread, change and get the correct fitment then.
When I sold my Classic, I fitted the 2001 bugeye WRX alloys on it with the Bugeye fitment tyres, and they didn't look out of place.

I have 225x35x18 Goodyear F1's on my classic and they rub the arches, unless you're going to have the arches rolled, go for 215's. I have the problem with the bodykit covers the inside of the arches so rolling them will take a lot more work than a standard car. I had 215x40x17's on my old classic and never had a problem with the arches, and with the geometry set up to prodrive settings and 1.5 camber, the handling was superb!
Also, the 225's are very close to the suspension spring seats, you can't get a *** paper between the 2, so it's a case of spacers, depending on the offset of the wheels and rolled arches

I have Bugeye STI rims on my classic and they did just about fit with the standard tyres (225/45/17) but as Cornelius said you can only just get a *** paper between the suspension and the tyre, mine did not rub but then that is because I do drive like miss daisy I did however changed to 215/40/17 as they do leave a bit more room and do the job nicely

Ok so it looks like new tyre time. I thought as much. The cringe I get fom having my 215/45's rub is enough to put me off anything bigger.
Would anyone actually buy a set of used RE070's?
I was worried about changing the profile to 40's though, would it make the ride much harsher?

I have had 225/45/17, 215/45/17 and now I have 215/40/17 and to be honest I have not noticed a huge difference between them bur if you were worried about the ride you could go for the 215/45/17 option although it might put the speedo out a bit and may rub slightly if you lower it?
