Default Thanks to Essex Subaru Breakers (ESB)

Thanks to Jamie, Shaun, Neil and Robbie at Essex Subaru Breakers
who supplied me with another radiator after mine had split, uprated my turbo and fitted a boost gauge.

These guys worked throughout the whole of SUNDAY to ensure I had my car back before Christmas.

Much respect to all of you

Wishing you a Peaceful Christmas
Regards

Andy

Be careful with the turbo mate until you get the car remapped!

I now have a VF28, and am hoping to get it remapped next year sometime.

It really seems strange not running out of puff above 5500 RPM as I did with the TD04
Boost is 0.9 bar, so I assume it isn't making any more power....yet

Thanks for the comments guys.

It will be making more power.

The bigger turbo will be flowing more air at the same boost. More air requires more fuel to retain the same AFRs.

Youre on a one way ticket to a melted piston with it as it is mate.

Speaking of melted piston, I got mine that came out the scoob, theres only half left.

Take advice and get it mapped ASAP, surely even .9 bar is way too much if the fuelling is wrong

Any boost is too much is there isnt enough fueling, you can melt pistons in an NA engine if there is a lean condition.

Why would we bother fitting bigger turbos if they flow the same air???

They said it should be re-mapped sometime in the future, but said it would be OK for now

I will contact JGM as he is mobile, and I cannot get to Mocom

Merry Christmas BTW

As a rule mate, the car should be mapped after each mod that way you will get the best out of the mods, and the engine will be running correctly, as Frayz says the engine won't appreciate it, and it won't last long

Pat Herbourn originally mapped my old ECU (Z4) with a ScoobyECU and water injection and was very pleased with the results. On a rolling road the car got 311BHP and never had a problem for 2 years. The car just pulled like a train

Anyone got any secondhand 550's going cheap (circa £100).
JGM said I need either these (£400 new) or an adjustable fuel reg (£200) which will bring the cost of the project to over £1000

TBH I wasn't planning on having the remap just yet, but am taking the advice of you lot, as that seems the sensible way to go.
The trouble is the remap is coming out of the house budget, so I need to do it as cheaply as possible hence the enquiry

I appreciate that funds may be tight for you Andy.

They inevitably are this time of year. However think how much it would cost for a rebuild on top?

Youre deffo doing the right thing by getting it done properly.

I decent FPR will do you just fine, you can always add larger injectors at a later date.

As Frayz says, the cost of mapping is minimal to what a rebuild will cost, trust me I had two recently
