Ring Advice...
I know i should really post this in the ask frayz section......
Anyway... I'm planning to visit some friends in Germany during Christmas week and wondered if anyone could tell me if there is any scheduled closure of the Ring during Christmas/NewYear?
Also, anyone know of breakdown cover that will cover the Ring?
Cheers.

As for insurance : if you are with gary of KM, they do a very good deal for the day but with a £2000 excess.
RING advice, just go out there and have fun, treat it like a normal road till you know your corners then go mental. That might take 50 odd laps though.
Lots of articles and vids on the web. Just google it.
Enjoy it.

Just because the times are shown as being open doesnt mean it will be though. If there is snow, fog, heavy rain, sleet etc they may shut the track or just not bother opening it.
It was -8C there this morning with snow. If you are thinking of going on the track at xmas take it as a bonus if they actually open it and certainly dont try and set any records. They weather/road surface conditions on one part the track can be COMPLETELY different to another. It is not unknown to go around a corner and find that track completely wet when it was dry before.
ps - the wet line around the track is massively different to the normal dry line.

Easter and September are two really good weekends and normally the weather is pretty good too.
The advice about weather conditions is spot on. Also keep your wits about you as I crested a hill at 150+ to find a 52 seater coach on the racing line
It's fair to say as it wasnt even my car that my sphincter muscles worked overtime
Apparantly it seems as long as you pay the fee anything can go on track and that includes coaches, reliant robins or trucks lol

I went at easter this year and it was 27C - the week before they had 6 inches of snow.
I went in September his year and it did nothing but rain with rivers flowing down the fuchsrohre... try that with 2mm of tread on RE070's
I went last September and it was 30C
A few weeks ago (when I went again ) it was -3C and sleet but then clear and sunny and perfect subaru lapping weather. Racked up a few 8 min laps without really thinking about it.
The one thing predictable about the weather there is that the weather forecasters havent a clue. Speak to a local there and they will tell you what the weather is like at that moment but beyond that it is guesswork
Everything road legal is allowed to be there as it is a public toll road so long as you are not filming or your car does not make excessive noise or not obeying german road traffic laws.
Bibo - try and get over there after easter after the manic rush of people has gone. It is far easier to focus on the track ahead of you when there isnt a constant stream of cars, bikes, minibuses, vans whatever trying to get past you Mid week evening sessions are beautiful there.
