Default Advice needed please

Sitting in the garage is a '95 WRX Import which i bought for Ronnie in 2004. Unfortunately i gave the car to a muppet to rebuild the engine which ended up in agony, long story.

The car looks mint but it's a no go as the engine is 'kaput'.

The big question:

1: Do i sell, seeing a running scooby is going for nothing, at a give away price ?

2: Break it and sell in parts?

3: Spend more money on it at least to a driveable condition and sell. ( My least favourable option)

4: Work on it as a project and maybe turn it to a track car.

If it's going to be a track car, will any one be interested in joining forces?

I really do need to shift the car.

Many thanks.

A running scooby is worth more than a dead one mate.

Give Essex Subaru Breakers a call, you could get another engine, or they'll may buy the car off of you.

Would love to join forces, but got one too many projects on the go

Question is, whats more important to you, having a track car or some money?

Cookie has a point! It all comes down to £££! If you need the cash ASAP then sell the scooby broken. If you can afford to fix and then sell, do that. If you don't need the money but your fed up with seeing it go to waste then do her up as a Track Car and have lots of fun with her!!!

PS - I'll take her on the track for you !!!!

sounds like the same sort of situation i'm in Ade....oh that'll be because of the same muppet!!!!

As Cookie has said, which ever optopm suits your needs the best. I personally, if i had the funds, would turn it into a track car.

At the end of the day, it's what best suits you mate.

What is the difference in price for it in its present state and if it has a new engine?

All I'm thinking, is it worth going through all the hassle of repairing it if you only end up covering the costs you spent out on it and pretty much pocketing what it was worth broken. If you see what I mean.

Thanx for all you replies.

TBH, I'm not really sure what will be the best solution.

I'd love to have it as a project track car, but I know nothing about engines + i guess it'll cost mega £££ to build a proper track car.

Having it as a running scooby will be luxury, as Ronnie doesn't want it and I cannot justify running 4 road cars of which 2 are scoobies. (Bank Manager says NO).

I guess, joining forces might sound good, so Budgie, get your Bucks a*s down to Essex and Cornelius finish off the other projects man, or if anyone else is interested, let me know, otherwise ABW will be getting a call very soon.

Spally, yes it is the same muppet and Em, I'd let you take her on track, but it ain't running. LOL

Cookstar, i'd love to eat my cake and have it. Is there such a thing? PMSL.

Sir Fozz, I guess the difference will be marginal + I'm not sure the cost of repair can be recovered.

Thanx all.

Hate to say it, but your best options are probably sell as it is or break it? (even then it's extra hassle)

Sums:

To fix = £1000 for new engine fitted : Then sell for £2500 : Balance + £1500

To Sell as it is = £1500

These prices are based on what is being sold on here and other sites.... (not my views!)

I'd only break if the car was seriously modded?

Hope it works out

Love to Ade, but I've got a major project with my Marlin Roadster which I'm debating whether to go through the hassle of SVA for road use, or to finish it for the track. It's got a 2 litre straight 6 so will be very entertaining either way

As it's already been said, Essex Subaru Breakers do a great deal on replacement engines....

Or they did do..... They are currently going through some extensive changes at the moment that may see some price changes?

Get in quick if this is the route you are going....

It cost me £3000 for my rebuild, and that included 2.5 bottom end, Cometic 3 layer stainless steel head gaskets, ARP race head studs, oil catch tank, front mount intercooler, injectors, induction kit and the Apexi Power FC commander.

Having said that, I rebuilt the engine myself so it kept the cost down
