333bhp & 352lb/ft is quite evil but the figures dont tell the whole story, it pulls and pulls right through the gears.....

and mapped with engine safety in mind too.

I'm guessing that if I've already had a map done with Pat then there is no point having another one, its just that the car feels so slow goddam it

Dunc, if you measured that on delta dash theres a good chance youre figures will be higher than that on the rollers.

When delta dash said mine was @ 296bhp it threw out

323bhp @ power engineering and 317bhp @ wrc tech. (on the same day!)

So conclusive evedence that rollers dont mean dick all lol

I know this is going to sound completley stupid but being a novice at all this Mapping malarky i was just wondering what the purpose of Re Mapping was and when should be the best time to get one done? As all this tech talk just baffles me.............

Frayz - that was at Clive Atthowes on the rollers - but pre the intake mod, so that may or may not make a difference, and there is still a little bit more to do with the mapping once the Miltek 3" full system goes on

MrBush - mapping.... hmm - probably easiest to read the tuning guides : https://www.scoobynet.com/newage-imp...fications-376/

Mapping should ideally be done after EVERY modification that will alter your air/fuel/ign mix.

i.e after an exhaust, turbo, fuel pump fitment.

A map is basically your engines caliberation, it knows how much fuel to add/remove, how much ign/cam timing to add or remove, how much boost to add/remove and what speed and load etc.

As you can imagine, these maps are very complex as your cars engine load situation changes all the time.

example:

If you have a fully loaded car or driving up a steep hill you will have higher cylinder pressures and therefore more heat due to the increased load on the engine. Load vs throttle position will be constantly changing.. but your ecu is aware of 99% of situations and will adjust acordingly.

Please bere in mind these are not the only things that affect your map,

fuel quality, boost, air charge tempratures, rpm, turbo speed etc etc

Okay now imagine. you fit a free flowing exhaust system and all those parameters change?
Your ECU wont know youve changed the exhaust and continue to just do what its always done.. but your engine will require different parameters now and therefore will not be running correctly.

Hence remapping is adjusting all those parameters to a new caliberation so all are at their optimum for youre engine setup.

Feel free to ask as many questions as need be mate.. of come and see me at a meet and i will be happy to explain anything your not quite O-fay with
