Default Help!! a quick q before i go and do it.

Does anyone know if it's illegal to run a car without a fog light? at the mo i've got jap size plates on my classic but want to change to uk size plates. problem i have is the fog light is located next to the rear plate. see pic

or, does anyone have a set of standard uk rear lights at a sensible price? can't afford the sti items at the mo.

Hi m8, I am no expert but as I understand it your car will fail its MOT without a fog light, but as for getting a tug I don't know if they will notice it is missing unless you get pulled over on a foggy day for not having it on is it worth the risk? But then again I know people who have been tugged for having square plates

that's true about the mot. and i guess it's is heading towards the time of year where we'll get the foggy weather.

i've been ok with the square plates so far. they were made up in this country and have the garage details on them where i bought the car from. although you can never tell what the old bill are thinking.

mmmm. nice cheap fix that one. i've heard of it being done and asked about it before. wiring's far from a strong point with me lol! how easy was it? i've already got the switch and wiring from the fog light that's on there.

the square plate is LEGAL IIRC on an import where the spacing ONLY allows a plate that size... hench EVO's having the smaller front plate...

To be road legal, you need at least 1 foglight, which must be fitted on the offside of the car.

My car is an import and as Wimpy and Cat says, I've also used the reverse light, keeps the car clean with no ugly external foglights!!

you'll need a foglight (I got an original Scooby switch from ebay - £5)
5m of wire and a red bulb.

Give me a shout and I'll do the conversion for you, will take about 1/2 hour

cheers. switch is already cut into the dash and wiring is already there for the ugly square one that's next to the rear plate. i'll get hold of a red bulb.

that said the switch that's there could go towards a flamer kit and then i'll get a proper foglight switch for the fog light conversion, nudge nudge, wink wink
