MOT time
Car is due its first MOT next month.
Subaru Dealer want £44.15 for an MOT, is this the going rate or can I get it cheaper somewhere else, any recommendations?

Knowlsey opened at just after 7 to sort the car out, he arranged the MOT. I turned up, exhaust swapped, to the MOT Station, car passed (yaaay), back to Xtreme, exhaust swapped back, on the road within 20 minutes.
It suited my needs, therefore I paid the extra.

I phoned them to suss out the catch. Me suspicious? You bet.
No catch but there is some small print.
Small fail ie bulb or wiper blade etc fixed on the spot ~ No retest fee just the tenner.
If work is needed & you have to take the car away then full fee plus the tenner.
Mine failed for sun strip & sucker mount for Sat Nav being within swept area of wipers. I removed sun strip & dropped sucker off screen onto dash top ~ Passed. They even tried some shorter blades to see if I could keep the sun strip.
It was my first MOT from new (MY03) so was pretty confident it would go through. I was more worried about my emissions with my new & up till then untested decat/high flow sport cat set up.Needn't have worried ~ Hayward & Scott does what it says on the tin.
Not the cheapest route for an older car that you are not confident will pass.

£40ish is the going rate mate for a standard MOT no messing with CATs.
f'ing metro now needs £300 ish spent on it! But it was a free car so can't grummble (a year of no trouble motoring & 20k miles).
NS Front Susp arm
NS Rear Brake drum (shoes) but obviously replacing both sides
Front and centre exhaust (hopefully lambda will pass once exhaust is changed)
Oh well
Sure yours will be fine though mate
