Changing oil/filters etc
Hi All!
Probably already a post on here about this, but blowed if I can find it!!
How often should Scooby's have their filters and oil etc changed/checked? After reading a few posts about bottom ends needing replacing etc, I want to make sure when I get mine, I don't end up down the same route (when I bought my RS Turbo, a week after owning it, it needed a new bottom end...very painful in the wallet!! )
I'll only be using to work and back (few miles) and around town at weekends, with only a limited amount of motorway use, and as long as I can keep the OH out of the driver's seat, it won't get driven VERY hard!
Also what type of oil/filters etc is best?
Thanks for your help!!

the official subaru handbook says every 7500 miles or 6 months, which ever comes first. However there is no problem in changing it every 3/4000 miles as fish.

As Spally said above Subaru reccomend 7.5k for 'classics' and 10k for newage , using a GOOD synthetic oil this is safe enough , but there's no harm in changing more frequently if you wish . If you use a cheaper oil I'd personally change it more often though .As for the filter , the Subaru ones aren't expensive now (reduced prices while ago) so I'd go with theirs .
