i think you'll get more lag with the td05 as it's a bigger tourbo so needs to build up a greater flow of air before it'll give you the go.

easy way to remember it - bigger turbo = bigger bhp potential but also bigger turbo = more turbo lag.

the TD05 turbo is the most common upgrade for a UK car, as Jap Imports have them as standard, hence their power is higher than a UK car.

You should get a scoobyECU or other piggyback board so your ECU can be mapped accordingly or else you can end up with detonation as the engine would be running lean and blowing (usually) piston No4

If you do upgrade to a TD05, make sure you get all the supporting pipework with it, ie coolant and oil pipes as these will be slighty different

bit of a stupid question here, but will the turbo have the model number written on it in an obvious place?

on the TD05, it's written underneath the turbo inlet, so unless you take off the induction kit pipework, it's not easy to see, mind you it's still a bit tricky with the turbo still in the car

cheers. have always been a bit sceptical if mine has the td05 or the 04. seeing as it only made 250 with the total decat and equal length headers, it got me wondering even more.

94 jdm wrx with full decat (h&s downpipe, resonated decat centre section, jap style rear box), headers and panel filter.

i think the walbro could be the next step. have been looking at the esl ecu upgrade as well. similar to the scooby ecu. about £195 i think.

The car feels as though it's got a hell of a lot more torque!!

going by other 2.5 conversions I've seen, I'll probably be around the 330 mark.
once it's mapped I'll get it on the rollers
