Possible alternative Thursday Meet Venue???
Hope you lot have been enjoying yourself on the Southend Cruise!
As I had to work, and didn’t get home till way too late to come and join in , I ended up (on the way home) continuing to look for a suitable venue for a Thursday meet over this part of the world (Harlow), which took me to three outlets, one of which does look to be the favourite.
There is a Beefeater locally just been refurbished, which has plenty of car parking, and the Manageress seems to be open to the idea of a meet as long as we weren’t going to do any donuts or the like, which I assured her we wouldn’t be! There is a garden with seating (not as big an area as the Lodge), but I’m sure we could manage…
It’s called “The Gatekeeper” and it’s literally 500 yards from the M11 junction at Harlow, so it’s easy for anyone to get to via the M25/M11 or if they want to cut across country, then the A414 from Chelmsford joins the same roundabout and then it’s a quick squirt along the duel carriageway to the Beefeater.
Pic’s taken should give an idea what the car park size looks like and I estimate that it can get possibly 50-60 cars in it and another 5 or 6 in the lay bye outside if necessary, so even allowing for locals going to the Beefeater for a meal, there should still be enough space for us………
Looking at the front of the Beefeater:
Looking at the car park from the top down:
Looking at the car park from the bottom upwards:
Looking at the outside entrance (can get another 6 cars in the Lay Bye):
Looking at the outside seating area (poor picky I know):
If this looks interesting, may I suggest that Tiny or Phil pops over at some point to double check and if it’s OK, then yippeeeeee!!

Food is nice too, however they are quite strict on their closing times and i dont know how well they would recieve so many scoobs... Deffo worth talking to them though, easy tio find location too

Thought about Matching Green, and also the John Barleycorn at Threshers Bush but as I'm not sure how many cars will turn up I thought it best to look for somewhere with a big enough car park!
If the numbers turn out to be lower than expected, then there are a number of other places to go!
