Watch out if you shop in Basildon
My 80 year old Nan had her purse stolen by 3 Bosnian girls whilst shopping in Asda (Eastgate) yesterday afternoon.
To cut a long story short, they were bumping her and my mum and then Mum clocked them hanging round still. Checked Nan's bag and purse was gone. Mum turned into super woman, run after them and with the help of the staff of Asda, manged to detain them until the police arrived. Wish i'd have been with them.
However, one slipped away but one of the remaining 2 had the purse on them. Nan's ok, but a little upset that someone who shouldn't really even be in the country has stolen from her. Nan's the old school, as in, you shouldn't take what doesn't belong to you.
We heard that when the girls arrived at the local nick they tried to say that they couldn't speak English. Shame that, It meant that they would have to wait in custody until some time today, when an interpretor was available.
Police that took statements last night said that with the evidence they should be able to get a conviction. Still i guess that the CPS will work that out to be about 20 hours community service max. Better than nothing though i guess.
I say let me in a closed room with them to teach them some manors.
Once again, thanks to the Staff of Asda and the Police Officers that help / took statements. And remember be careful and keep and eye out.
