It still wasn't publically posted in here for seven people to respond to. Who decided which cars were selected to go?

Decided by who? Don't really care about Rolling road and Lodge meet. Seems like a lot of the ESC has become clicky and chummy and meets, such as the J-Tuner power test, which to be honest I would have liked to have gone to and tested my new power upgrades, are being arranged in secret and people aren't being told about them. Do we have to wait for invitations to meets like this now???

I don't actually know who made the final decision on who went, I know I was asked, but due to miss-communication, my place was given to someone else, so I know how you feel.

You're right, the ESC are getting a little cliquey, but it's growing so big now, that's really to be expected.

Sorry m8, didnt really know who chose who went?? I was asked if i could make it, which i could, so i went.........
I was led to believe that a wide range of scoobs were to be represented, ages, power etc to differ, so that a good representation could be displayed. i would definately decline in future, so that others can take there oppurtunity...
Must admit, a WR1 would have been very photogenic!!!! especially knocking out 385 BHP.................

All the best

not at all mate, it appears that an email went out to selected people only ( same thing happened with a top gear presentation last year) ... because I for one would definately have attended. Had never fully tested my car on a timed straight or 0-60 and would have loved to have gone.

Luckily enough I was invited to race at bruntingthorpe the week after with on-your-marks so I did get to test the car.

my point is just that whoever decided upon who went to this meet decided not to ask me for whatever reason. Everybody knows I would have gone and would have thrashed the **** out of my car for the feature.

the ESC is getting very in your face now and there is a lot of bitching and chumminess. Becoming a victim of it's own success ... perhaps?

I was aware of it about a week (IIRC) before from reading a post on a forum.

I haven't noticed throughout the summer. However, you may be more aware of it (being a member).

Now this is in the open, it should be acted on accordingly. I would hate another regional club to become a 'if your face fits' type of affair. Just because everybody may not see it, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

Sorry, but this sounds like a case of sour grapes to me, you weren't asked....so what? I've had a bigger kick in the nuts than what you did, but I'm not ranting over it.

Like I previously said, this was arranged at a Lodge meet, with the people who actually attended being asked. So why should you be given priority over everyone else, especially considering you don't come to many meets anymore, and haven't done so for some time.

I personally don't think that there is a "freemason" secret squirrel, you scratch my back regime in the crew.

Gangsta,Budgie.....your opinions may be near to the truth....who am i to say i personally have been out of the 'scene' for a while, & dont intend to be getting back , with the enthusiasm i once had, if at all???
Clicky-ness, Bitching???? Yeah, think ive seen & felt a bit of that....Shame really, used to be a club for enthusiasts, family, etc. Maybe it was a bit 'amateur' then???, but hey, thats the price of success???
Still, the people that may have the answers your looking for are all at Butlin's at the mo,unfortunately, im no wiser than yourselves!
I believe there having a drink on me?!?!.......

I'm still about

The bottom line is that 8 reliable people were needed, and all eight turned up on time and a good day was had by all (apart from a slipping power steering belt on my part )

Gangsta, as for you, well you can hardly call yourself a 'regular' at ESC events these days. I fully understand the reason you took a back seat, but that was a long time ago. I can't really call myself a 'regular' either as I only tend to turn out to the H/H, but due to work restrictions, thats the way it is. If I hadn't of been asked I would have said 'Fair do's, if there's another chance I'd liked to be considered'. The way the magazine guy's were talking, there's a possibility there'll be another ESC day.

Just my humble thoughts ( and it would be good to hook up at some time )

Unhappy so...

Hi - my name is LeWi, And i don't believe that i have met all that have posted within this thread - BUT - I have been a member of the SIDC & ESC since 7th September this year. All that i could say is that i have never been made to feel more welcome by a club/organisation than the ESC - within my driving years i have belonged to 3 different car clubs where i have given my time, money and passion too. All the 3 other clubs were made up by males only and again featured high performance cars... they were clubs with whats been described in this thread... bitchyness, catty, arguing but most of all JEALOUSY.
I do honestly realise that i am only new to the ESC but i have not ever witnessed this behaviour... what i have always found in situations like this is "the more you put in, the more you get out" - my question would be how much time have you put in? do they see you that often? would your name be at the front of their mind when a opportunity like this comes around?
Could YOU put yourself in their shoes - and think to yourself - "we run a club with hundreds of members, all with amazing cars, BUT, we can only take 7, who and how shall we do it? - whatever decission was taken would have been wrong is someones mind and would have upset someone along the line.

It is a great shame that this thread has taken this tone - especially when others are away from their PC's and cannot reply or defend their actions.

Yes i do know i am only a scoobie newbie - but loving the ESC

This gonna get expensive for you mate , couldn't agree more with what you said in the last post although i'm not a ESC member as such (i'm from the darkside), as you said whichever way they decided which cars to go it might upset someone, why not put this thread on HOLD until the others are back and see what they have to say on this matter.

Cheers

keep them corners coming Lewi mate.

I totaly agree with you Lewi. I have been a member now for about 2 months and i think the ESC are a great bunch of people.

The amount of meets we do is great. I think the members of ESC go over backwards to help there fellow members.

Like you say Lewi, what you put in, you get out. i have noticed members on here upset because they feel left out. It happens in clubs this size. If you dont socialise then how are you going to be accepted!

I don't know you so can't really comment on your experiences. I, however, have been an active member of the 'ESC' for well over two years. Up until May I attented every single meet and made contributions in other areas. I took a back seat for a very good reason, which you don't know about - and which I am not bringing back up.

You are probably correct on yourself not being able to comment on the situation. Having not been there in the days of the Flat Four Impreza Club you have not witnessed the club develop into what we have today. Talk to a number of members that have been there from the start!

A number of 'old school' members have been treated like total **** by various people in the ESC - this is a classic example of what I'm talking about. I'm making a point from my perspective.

Cornelious ... re: Sour Grapes mate. Not at all! I said I would have liked to have gone but wasn't invited. I went there in any case a week later for a charity track day so got my track fix.

again ... you have know knowledge of the club before it was developed by all of the original members into the ESC, so prob are unable to comment on the reasons as to why a number of us feel the way we do.

I am happy that you are having a great time and great experiences don't get me wrong. I am talking about what the club used to be like, and what it is like now.

Just a little example for you ... I had a member from here told by another member that something had been said against them ... this member then called me at work and proceeded to shout and swear at me down the phone. That,I'm afraid, is deplorable and one of the reasons I don't attend many meets - because I don't want to confront someone (because I'm seething about it) in front of kids etc!

People having pints poured over their heads, abuse emails and PMs ... this is not what the club used to be about.
