Can anyone help?
Jay came home from school today and said that he didn't have a sharpe enough pencil for maths and his teacher told him his pencil should be sharper, so she has told him he has got to write 5 reasons why you need to have a sharpe pencil.
I know its very stupid, but if anyone can think of any reasons, please can you help.

For drawing pin point accurate lines
for sharper clarity
easier to erase mistakes
drawings, etc are less likely to smudge
makes stabbing people easier as it easily pierced the skin
When I done Engineering at college, we used different grade pencils to do technical drawing, ie HB 2H 3H 2B 4B etc, mind you computers have made the old drawing board obsolete now

when drawing accurate diagrames, when marking points on a graph, to stab teacher with when they're being an ***!!!!!
that's 3 although only two probably useable, i'd ring the school and have words, put them on the spot and ask them can they name 5, probably not

From pencils to knives to guns.......
And all because the teacher asked for 5 reasons why a pencil should be sharp; I can see where it all starts now
Hope he doesn't use it to pick his nose......could get bloody

Flat Eric in schoolboy mode ~
A sharp pencil is needed for :-
Sticking spiders, flies & other assorted insects to the desk so they can't get away while you pull their legs, wings etc off.
Poking holes in all the important stuff on the school notice board.
Bursting zits.
Sticking in the bum of the swot sat in front of you that won't let you crib over their shoulder.
And finally to get to those parts of your ear that others can't reach in the search for that elusive ball of wax.
As you can see I had a pretty disfunctional childhood. Explains a lot.

Sharp pencils are great for reaching those deep bogies that a stubby finger cannot reach!
Seriously though, I see the point (no pun intended) if he is constructing a graph or measuring angles for instance, but if she's going to give him homework, make it something useful?
JohnD
PS I teach maths!

Jay had to hand in his 5 reasons today, so he decided to use the 5 above, thanks guys for your help, the teacher was really pleased with him, she asked him if he had done them by his self and of course Jay said he did, but then again I think most 9 year olds would tell a little white lie.
