What's the best back box for a nice loud exhaust rumble? I've got an 06 hawkeye wrx. Only had her about 3 weeks so I'm new to all this but I'm head over heels in love x

Hello mate,

I had an 06 WRX and went for a haywood and scott 4.5 inch jap style angled exit and a de-resonated centre section 👍 sounded awesome if not a little too loud on the motorways. Cost around £380 fitted.

Regards
Neil

I was looking at the nurspec but will defo look into the others you mentioned 😃. I have another question for you all. I put a baileys dump valve on about a week ago (changed from the standard) and ever since it revs really high when I start her up. It can be anything from 2000 to 3000 rpm. This lasts untill I start to drive and then the revs drop to normal. A friend of mine said she just needs to be re-mapped, is this the case? If so what can I expect price wise? Thanks

The dump valve will be messing with your fuelling and causing rich running on gear changes, Id take it off and get a recirculating one.

And its probably due to a vacuum leak the high idle

Ahh ok. I'm learning as I'm going at the moment lol. I think I'll put the original one back on untill I get hold of a recirculating one. I've looked on ebay, where else can I find one? Sorry for the silly questions but as I said, I'm totally new to this and I'm learning as I go

Forge sell a splitter valve which will give you dump and recirc, or a HKS SSQV converted to recirc will do you nicely!

I bought my Hawkeye WRX with a Ninja backbox on, was nice on boost but not loud enough for me so I went Afterburner raptor backbox with Hayward & Scott centre without silencer.

The standard Subaru dump valve is a recirculating dump valve.

The Raptor is alot louder with a meaty sound, drove to London and back yesterday and had the window down every time I went through a tunnel. Have decat downpipe going on next month. Will have to try and do a sound clip soon!

Got a afterburner raptor on my hawk sti, with a 3"inch open neck decat downpipe, I think it sounds great, ive had the Blitz nur spec in the past and that is seriously loud, but I find it a bit to raspy for my liking, where as the raptor is loud but doesnt sound raspy!!
