Default Apexi Power Fc Ecu

Is this ecu anygood ?

Can it be mapped more than once and do everything needed ?

If compared to a alcatek is this better or worse ?

I've been offered this with a hand commander unit for £300 but don't want to throw money away on something I can't use.

My current ecu is a 4 plug standard and my scooby is a 1996 uk standard turbo 2000 model

Thanks in advance for any help and advice

Apexi pfc is dated now, pretty basic and not worth the money imo. You'll pay £300 for it then the same again to have it mapped.

Your best route is ESL.

But they end up costing as much if not more than say an ESL and the apexi is far more basic.

Can't disagree with this.

I've had one fitted for a year or two and it's been faultless.

Have one on my type R and think its great. One thing I really like is that you can keep an eye on the knock etc, you can even map them yourself with the controller if your knowledgable enough.

Im not saying they are faulty, they do exactly what they are designed to do. They are just basic thats all, and when you think what else can be had for the same money then the apexi makes no sense.

I think it makes perfect senseit really depends how far your looking to go with the modifications of your car for a entry level ecu upgrade with the ability to see what engine parameters are doing in real time the Apexi is a nice touch,if the OP is looking big power later on he should only really be looking at the syvecs Alcatek ecu's anyway, but for a entry level ecu upgrade it's perfect especially on the earlier impreza models.SJ.

I'm with mattyb on this I have had apexi and simtek On my V3 Type R and the difference is night and day guys, soooooooo much smoother with the simtek and it was mapped by a muppet.

The power fc has a couple of nice features when you have the hand commander but the problem is you spend half the time watching the knock levels and sh1tting yourself every time they start to rise so can't enjoy the car.

I have sold both and will be going the ESL daughter board route, so make of that what you will.

As above to my mind power fc is old tech and i'd only have one if it was free, I wouldn't give £50 notes for one, because by the time you've paid for mapping your better off going ESL. sorry.

I would take a cheese sandwich if it was for freebut I understand fully what your saying I can't comment on the other ecu that Matty recommended as I have not had no experience with one,but according to the blurb that was on that site it sounds to be a winner.SJ.
