2004 WRX worth a re-map ?
Hi all , im fairly new to the forum so please bear with my not so much knowledge of the Imprezas . I have a totally standard WRX but have been curious about having a tune ? remap ? done on it .... it's a 2.0 engine with 58,000 miles . Would there be much of a gain for example in 0-60 times .. ? From what I read it cost abut £500 to do a remap on these cars . It is my everyday car and wont be using it for racing or tracks or Ring trips etc . I plan to keep it looking standard but wondered what gains a remap tune would give me . Sorry to prattle on and hope that you knowledgable people could answer .
Oh and im near Leominster where would be near to possibly get the above done ?

You'll only get small performance/economy gains if you aren't changing any of the exhaust system, but it's still worth it IMO (you could see around 20-30bhp increase). Ideally, you would get a full decat (or sport downpipe if you are worried about an MOT) and then a remap which will give you the best value for money (and more like 40-60bhp increase).
Also it's more like £350 for a remap if you go open source (and the mappers will often travel to you).

I get an extra 40 miles per tank after a remap. So yes I think it's worth it. Good idea to put a cat back exhaust and panel filter on to make the most of the gains.

If sticking with a tdo4 just replicate the ppp with a remap, intercooler hose, 2nd decat panel filter and decent exhaust if you want to then fit an uprated fuel pump but not essential at this level as ppp doesn't have one. I found this best value for money on my old wrx, when I later decatted up pipe and fitted a sportscat down pipe the difference from ppp was so small That I didn't think it was worth the expense, now if I was going for a larger turbo then it would have been worth it. I did the lot with used parts so it can be done on a budget. I also fitted sti wheels and front brembos and thought it was a much better car than standard although I didn't really notice any difference in fuel consumption around town but maybe a little better on a run.
