Carberry rom??
Evening chaps, i have been trying to find out info on the carberry rom and got a little info but not a definitive answer to my question lol.
Ok, i have a 2001 bug uk300. Can i get it mapped with carberry rom, and can i go maf less, and can i have als without any extra engine bits?
I know it will need switches etc, but can the stock iscv flow enough air for the als etc?
Cheers for any input. Also, who can map it!

You can run carberry on your car fine, and you can add switches to one of the unused ECU pins (such as the transmission ID pin) or use a switch like the rear window demister to activate ALS, LC, FFS...
I'm not sure if your car has TGVs but if it does they need to be removed as the software can't control them. Also you should really buy a new intake air temp sensor as it currently sits in the MAF which is not the best place to take a temp reading for SD.
To run ALS correctly you need to have the throttle kicked slightly (you can adjust the throttle cable to hold it open slightly), the software has rotational idle so it doesn't over rev on idle. It's a very aggressive ALS and not something you would want to run all the time...
Best to speak with your mapper...

Cheers for the info chaps, its certainly something to look into when i get to the point of needing the car mapped.
yes mine does have the TGV's, so ill take those out before hand etc.
relocating an air temp sensor shouldnt be too much worry if the inlet has to come off anyway.
with the ALS tho, all other systems i have seen use an ISCV, so if the throttle is open a bit all the time, wouldnt that make it a bit difficult to drive at low speeds?
id probably not have the ALS switched by the rear demister, just incase the missus drives the car, i doubt she would be too happy about that lol
cheers guys

To the OP, yes you can run it, yes you need to remove the TGV's first and install switches to enjoy all of the features.
If you'd like a quote give Alan a call on 01752 345880 !

Or any of the other people who map in this manner but do a proper job of it and pay to advertise on this site

Not everyone has the time or inclination to travel to Plymouth for a mapping session so the recommendation of mobile mappers is helpful. I'd also recommend Andrew Carr who mapped my car. Teamcarr.net. No he doesn't pay to advertise on this site. He doesn't slag off other mappers either.

no fighting please boys.
im not ready yet to have any mapping done, just trying to gather info/parts for as and when etc.
there are a fair few reputable tuners on here so lets keep it at that lol.
as for the brake servo, that might be an issue lol. the standard cast 4-pots are pretty poor imo anyway, so to make them worse is not a good thing lol.

I had Andrew Carr put carberry rom with twin maps and anti lag my STI. To say im chuffed is an understatement. Car drives very nice and i've also gained around 50 miles to a tank of fuel compared to my old map. Thoroughly nice chap too.

I think it's just a figure of speech , I'm sure he meant " the carberry rom "
Anyway , his , hers , or anyone's , it's a good thing

No, i dont use the ALS in situations that require braking, ie its just for show tbh.
I shall edit my post accordingly, i'm aware of the confusion of said mapping thread involving Andrew.

Tbh I think the effect of a/l on braking is slightly over exaggerated , it's no different to riding a two stroke bike with little engine braking to a four stroke with lots
Just requires a little forward thinking

What ever floats yer boat I suppose , seems a bit of a waste of turbo / engine wear to entertain other folk

ive used the launch control and the anti-lag on the 1/4 mile, cant say ive noticed any issue with the brakes although i usually switch the a/l off just after crossing the line.

If i had als it would get used properly!
On my old 3dr sierra i had a bias pedal box, so no servo etc but did have evo 8 brembo callipers front and rear, 330mm front, 300mm rear. The brakes on that were pretty good.
The std scoob brakes are pretty, err, shocking! (With regard to car power and weight imo)
