Default Changing a 8s to a 1s ecu and MAF

Ok all info needed here,

Can I change my 8s ecu to a 1s and change the MAF from the purple type to the orange type?

What's involved apart from the obvious and will it work and what changes would I need to make if any ?

Is the 1s a better ecu than the 8s?
Cheers

I have just had a look on the ESL ecu guide but it does not list an 8S ecu.
It lists an 8Z ecu which is for a 97/98 WRX.
What year and model is your car, is it a three plug?

What turbo and injectors do you have fitted?
My V3 JDM WRX has a VF-24 turbo and yellow 440cc injectors fitted as standard, it also had a 1S ecu and orange MAF before I removed them.

The 1S ecu makes 260 bhp on the JDM WRX and 275 bhp on the STI so if it will swap over okay you should see a good increase over the 218 bhp your ecu will be putting out.

I'm sure one of the tuning experts will let you know if it could be installed and run safely.

218bhp is that it ! It feels like its pushing well over 250 at a guess, the sheer torque and speed of it is phenomenal, no lag no nothing just full boost and ultimate speed in no time, how can that be with so few horses ?

It might be if it has a manual boost controller fitted, 218 bhp is the standard figure for a uk turbo 2000 with no mods or remap.

Have you had the cover off your ecu to check if it is chipped or had a daughter board fitted?
