Cylinder Misfire 4
Hi
I have a STI 02, which has been throwing the EML with Cylinder Misfire 4 code.
The car seems to be running ok and my mechanic that I use has done the following:
Coil Pack
Spark Plugs (Check coil wiring)
Clean engine earthing point
Clean MAF
Check neutral sensor
Check pipes and manifold for air leaks
Check fuel filter
Compression Test
Also had a sniff test as he thought there were bubbles in the coolant, it passed this test.
Anything else to try as the light is still on. Also I have noticed that the EML will flash when going uphill, I did see a post about fuel pump, do you think this would be a valid cause of the light showing?
Any suggestions would be much appreciated
Cheers
Andy

I know you've mentioned "check coil wiring", but do you know how?
On my old Bugeye, shortly before the engine shattered piston No.4, I was getting the same Misfire cylinder 4 fault code.
I changed everything, even went down the Neutral position sensor replacement route, but still it carried on.
Whilst running my rebuilt engine in, we found the problem!!!!!
With the engine running, moving the coilpack wiring around, about 1" from the coilpack on No.4, made the engine drop to 3 cylinders, and it was obvious then what had happened!!!!! It wasn't easy to replicate the fault, but the right angle found the break in the wiring.
I'm not saying this is your problem, but it could be worth a go if you haven't already tried it.
